Sad Dark day in Australia
it is a very sad dark day in Australia
a great product for people with multiple intolerances will no longer be available due to 'low sales' ......
(it was one of only a few 'safe' snack foods available at most supermarkets in Australia)
thanks to Lyn (bifcus16) who introduced me to these in December and since then they have been a crucial part of my eating plan
- when i was doing the move, while driving I would eat these with some cooked chicken
- when travelling or attending work meetings they were an easy single serve snack to carry.
I know a certain PP member that will be just as saddened, I introduced Joe to these in April, he has become a bit partial to them. I even sent two packs (8 in each pack) over to help him with his upcoming transit to Australia
All the other products made by this company have Yeast and/or Dairy.

That would be heartbreaking to me also. So often I have found something (not necessarily food) that seemed just perfect to me and in a short time no longer available or "improved' to the point of being unsuitable. It is very disappointing.

Hi Gabes,
That's certainly a huge disappointment :(. Don't know what I would do without my "Rice Snaps". Looking at the picture on the package of the "Rice Rounds" they seem to be very similar to those.
Joe - have you ever tried Rice Snaps? They are made by Edward & Sons and come in different flavors. The one I like has only two ingredients - brown rice and sesame seeds. They are very crispy and crunchy, which is so satisfying. Perhaps they can be a replacement for the "Rice Rounds" and you can bring some to Gabes .
Love,
Kari

Joe,
I just found them at a Whole Foods. It's taking my eyes a while to adjust to the new shopping program, but they jumped right out at me thanks to Kari's recommendation. There were several flavors - I tried two, and both were good. I had been planning to bring just enough for the first couple of days of our trip, and then shop, but I'm now thinking I'll bring enough to have at least a little every day, in case the food situation is harder to sort out than I expect.
Crunchy!
Gabes, I'm so sorry about this company's decision. What a shame.
Love,
Sara

Thanks Kari, Sara and Tex. There is a Whole Foods store near where I work and from the store finder list there is a store fairly close to my house that carries at least some of their products.
I will take a look and see what I can find, if they work out I will bring some to Gabes to try out in a couple of weeks.

Oh No!!!
That explains why I had been having trouble finding them lately.
Sad day indeed. They were great because amongst other things, they were packaged in little individual packs so handy for popping in the handbag in when you go out as a precaution.
I am luckier than Gabes, in that I can have the couple of other lines from that company that have yeast but not dairy. But still:

HeHe,
I checked out one of my local supermarkets to find they had some in stock. So I bought all four packs they had on the shelf of the BBQ variety, and a whole box of the plain ones - six packs, each with eight single serves. I got a few funny looks walking through the mall with two bulky boxes of snacks. People I knew wanted to know if I was putting on a big afternoon tea for my team.

Has anyone tried the Lundberg Rice Chips? I got some yesterday at the health food store. They are so crunchy! The ingredients are brown rice, brown rice flour, organic masa corn flour, white rice flour, high oleic expeller-pressed safflower or sunflower oil, organic sesame seeds, sea salt, and natural caramel color. I didn't have any reaction from them and I ate the whole bag!

Denise,
I didn't realize that they made chips. The only product from them that my local health food store ever stocked was their Rice Cakes. Maybe it's a new product, (or maybe it's been a long time since I've been to that store).
Thanks for the tip.
