I probably should start a whole new thread for this, but - just savor these three little words:

Sharon's Coconut Sorbet. Oh my goodness!

The brand isn't available everywhere (yet) - but it's got some outposts outside the northeast. (Coconut cream, water, sugar, brown rice syrup, coconut, pectin & guar gum.)

Too bad Joe can't bring that on his ambassador tours

I can eat some of those rice chips, but if I eat too many I react a bit. I don't think I can tolerate much oil, and they seem to have more than the Herr's Kettle Baked Potato chips with sea salt. But even if I eat too many of the potato chips, I react a bit. I think that means I have some small bowel damage?

Arlene,

If I eat too much of anything starchy, I react a little. Potato chips, rice snaps... I think my body is carb-averse, for the time being or for the long haul. I'm sure you're right that oil is another factor. For what it's worth, I did not have a high fecal fat score in my Enterolab test. That 'should' mean that I don't have serious malabsorption (which I was assuming comes along with small intestine damage). But I think I was malabsorbing something, just based on the weird evidence that my hair is growing in darker. (I did have elevated anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies, which indicate autoimmune activity.)

I think the picture may be more complex. (But I always think that about frustrating, confusing things.) As I reread my preceding paragraph, I notice I have a few free-floating assumptions in there...

Back to your point - for me, the rice chips are better in light doses. If I eat them with almond butter, I try to include something else - carrots, or just a spoon. Almond butter alone has been good to me. (As far as I can tell - I may have to rethink the whole thing over time.)

I always find your posts so helpful.

Hope your new regimen is still going well,

Sara

Kelly - I second that YAY!! These days a handful of rice chips can be lunch for me....that and maybe a banana.

Sara- Have you tried the so delicious yogurt? I bought some yesterday, but haven't tried it yet.

Denise,

I have tried So Delicious yogurt and I think it's great. I have not tried the plain however, the flavors I tried were vanilla and blueberry and I use it as a "dessert".

When I can't find the rice chips I have found that corn doesn't seem to be a problem for me (what a blessing that is) so I have indulged in Fritolay corn chips. I really like the scoops:) The only ingredients are whole corn, corn oil and salt with no preservatives. It's nice to have a quick snack item especially when we are in a party atmosphere or are on the run. I feel like I eat lots of lean protein and veggies with some rice, potatoes and fruit mixed in. When I want some *fast food* I fall back on packets of Justin's nut butters and the rice or corn chips when I'm on the run.

I'm putting the yogurt on my list! We're doing a Whole Foods run prior to our France trip. That would make a nice variation in our breakfast themes, too...

Thanks!
