PP Ambassador

Post by Gabes-Apg »

Joe asked me let the PP family know that upon his return from DC today, he was not well with pain and fever, after seeing his doctor was admitted to hospital, a CT scan revealed that the Crohns had created a channel from inside the body allowing a septic blood infection.

He was on IV antibiotics to prior to surgery where some of his small intestine was removed. He is now out of surgery and he is ok, quite groggy, and understandably unsettled with what has occurred.

Joe does have the Ipad by his side, albeit I have given him strict instructions to put it away and rest otherwise i will ring the hospital and bribe the nurses with promise of sending them tim tams to get them take it away from him and force him to rest.

I do have hospital and room details, please pm me if you want those details.

Wow, Joe... I will pray for you. This is not good news, but hopefully everything will be all on the upside from here.

Gabes, thanks for being there for him. You are a good friend.

Gabes, thanks for letting us know.

Joe, OMG, it sounds as if you have developed a fistula. Glad to hear the surgery went well. When you (or Gabes) are able please give us more detail. I have a million questions about the location and what and how much was removed, how they are feeding you, etc . . .

Take care and rest up. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Hugs,

Mary Beth

OMG, what a shocker. He looked the picture of health when we saw him last week. Is it that doctor we share that did the surgery? I am so sorry you are suffering this set back. We can only hope that things will be better than before once you heal.

Get well fast my friend, you have lots to look forward to.

Sending Hugs and Prayers,
Nancy

Hello all... What a way to end a week!

I was finishing up my meeting in DC and did have some very minor abdonminal pains on Thursday and Friday, but nothing unusual. On friday I was not feeling the greatest and had the chills a little in the morning. I arrived home then the pains, chills and nausea got quite a bit worse and pain was approaching the severe level

A few hours later I was a my GI doctors office and he immediately sent me to the hospital next door go for a CT scan and blood tests.

The CT scan showed an area about 20cm in length (8 inches) in the jenjum that had a lot of Crohns activity includig several active fistula. I also had significant diverticulitis in my colon that was quite inflamed.

I am being fed via IV and some clear liquids by mouth. It will take about a week to be able to eat again

Well I now have a shorter small intestine and have developed A septic blood infection.

I will be in the hospital through Tuesday and am on 3 different actively pumped antibiotics (cipro, flagyl and avenox) as well as a Dilaudid pain pump.

I am afraid I am going to have to take a sick leave from my ambassador duties.

Thanks to each and everyone here, you guys have been great inspiration and support. This truly is a wonderful family here.

Gabes you have been a great friend, and I just don't have the words to say thank you enough for all of your assistance. I hope you feel better soon as well Gabes, I know you have been having a tough week as well.

Joe I have such an admiration for your enormous positive attitude towards life and towards your bowel diseases, and I mean this, you are a great inspiration to me and I think for all of us here. You are a thru ambassador for the Potty People. And yes it's okay to take some sick leave

Dear Joe,

I am sorry to hear that you had this setback. It's even worse that Nurse Nettie can't be by your side to help you recover.

You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

We're all thinking of you here, Joe - Buce is ready to back up Nurse Nestle at a moment's notice.

So sorry this happened, but relieved the surgery went well...

Keep resting and healing.

Hey Joe,

Wow! Rosanne Rosannadana was right, wasn't she? It's always something.

I have a pretty good idea of what you're dealing with, (since I've been through similar surgery, twice), and I'm glad you have something like an iPad available to keep you company. That beats the heck out of trying to read and type out a message on a phone/pda. As Gabes says, though, don't get carried away with it - your main job now is to heal, and get rid of the sepsis.

Take care of yourself, Joe.

Joe,

Well, I'll put it simply, "This absolutely stinks!" I'm so deeply sorry to hear this turn of events for you. Seems you haven't been able to catch a break here recently given the dental surgery and now this.

I am sending you every good wish and thought for a full and speedy recovery. I hope the thoughts of prayers of your PP family will help lift you up as you begin the recovery process.

Joe, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm sorry you have another mountain to climb, but you are a fighter and I have no doubt you'll win this one, too. We're all with you and hope you know what an inspiration you are to all of us. Same to you Gabes and hope you are feeling the support you need. There's a ton of it here. Love JoAnn
