There's only one way to find out.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I never had Enterolab testing for other grains, just gluten/dairy/soy/eggs/yeast. MRT showed I was moderately reactive to buckwheat and amaranth, and I have cut those out completely. I'll miss my Udis granola, the occasional slice of bread, chips and salsa, and the occasional rice or corn pasta. Oh, and i guess i have to cur out white potatoes 100%. I cut down based on MRT. Hope this is worth it!
Hi there - just wondering if anyone ever found out what their rash was caused by? I now too have the same rash symptoms and it is the worst thing to experience. Can't sleep, can't watch tv as too stationary and I will scratch!! I had it once back in march after taking charcoal so assumed it was toxins coming out but this time is more severe!! Any advice?

Hi Babs,
Sorry you are itching. Skin rashes are the worst. What does your rash look like? Mine looks red like sunburn, sometimes with slightly raised bumps like red goosebumps. I'm also very sun-sensitive. 10 minutes of direct sun will make the rash flare. My rash was biopsied and showed "vacuolar interface dermatitis" which along with the locations of the rash - chest, neck, upper and lower back, lower hips, eyelids and knuckles - led to the diagnosis of Amyopathic Dermatomyositis. Of course there are many other causes of itchy rashes out there. For starters, is there an environmental allergen you could be reacting to? I'm allergic to nickel and grasses, which both produce a short-lived dermatitis or hives for me. Does your rash ever blister or crust? It could be Dermatitis Herpetiformis, a sign of celiac disease. Of course eczema and related rashes are most surely caused by food intolerances.
Have you tried a topical steroid cream yet? How about an antihistamine for the itch? Do they help?
I ended up on systemic steroids and plaquenil (anti-malarial) when the rash got out of control.
Thanks for replying Zizzle - mine look like mosquito bites - little tiny red bumps and when scratched they open and bleed and then crust over into a scab. They are all over my back, arms, knees, thighs, butt and hamstrings!!! sooo uncomfortable. I have just got come steroid cream to try but am nervous about it as I am thinking they may be toxins trying to get out from my insides?? didn't want to clog the pores with stuff but is that wrong thinking?? I am trying to flush my system by drinking tons of water !!! I have been eating all the same things and this did happen back in march after taking charcoal to remove toxins???? so maybe toxins related - I don't know but I couldn't all of a sudden be intolerant to something I have been eating for last 3 weeks regularly could I?? I am taking anti histamine aerius but no help whatsoever. Benadryl at night helps me sleep so I don't scratch but am up every night at 3 am for a bath .

I doubt the toxins theory, unless you've suddenly developed a reaction to one of your medications or eaten a serious toxin you weren't aware of. It could be DH from the sound of it, but I don't know how sudden and severe the onset usually is. Is there any chance you have a tick-borne or other type of infection? Scabies? Chicken Pox or Shingles?
Hi, no as I was just at the drs and you would think he would have known if it was shingles/scabies etc. He did send a pic of my skin to the dermatologist. Have to wait and see I guess. Went for acupuncture and she said from the looks of my tongue my system is a mess. Lots of heat which is trying to escape through my skin. She has another client who's tongue goes weird just before a flare of her UC and they treat it immediately with herbs to calm things down. I have major blood deficiency and digestive upset like an infection in large colon or something like that. UGH!

I also go to a chinese medicine doc for acupuncture and herbs and have been told I have way too much "heat". My tongue us always scalloped too and shows "stagnation." I wish I could say her treatments and reishi were definitively helping, but I do feel good overall.
