You'll have to judge for yourself when you get on the Budesonide. You'll know if it masks symptoms or not..........
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was on 9 mg Uceris every other day for 24 days and my symptoms nearly resolved almost immediately. Then off and back they came. Then on that shorted 6 mg dose of Entocort a week ago with no symptom resolution. Now switching to 9 mg Entocort tomorrow morning. The Uceris did mask my symptoms...with a little help from Loperamide every 12 hours to scare away the remaining urgency. I am guessing the 9 mg Entocort will as well.

I am a little confused though. If the budesonide did not mask your symptoms then how did you know if you were reacting to a food or just reacting because you were still symptomatic? Thanks for your patience with me and sorry if my questions are dumb. :???:
I knew if I was reacting because I was no longer symptomatic. The Budesonide within about 3 days had stopped my diarrhea and I was only eating chicken, rice and 1 banana several times a day. So, when I tried something new (after about a couple of months of that very restricted diet) and it caused stomach ache, cramping, or diarrhea, I knew it was the food. The Budesonide didn't mask my symptoms completely like it does a lot of folks.
OK. That makes more sense. Thanks for explaining.

There are about a zillion alternate recipes for "Paleo Muffins" in the 9-page thread at the following link. Pick one that looks simple and the ingredients appeal to you.

Paleo Muffins ???

Also to answer your question in your last post — the following ingredients are safe for almost eveyone here:

almond flour, cinnamon, baking soda, shredded coconut, honey, vanilla

And a good rule of thumb:

I continue to work on that, Tex. But I can't shake the notion that I want to be perfectly compliant with my healing diet in order to achieve remission.

Erica P-G wrote:Another way to look at this recipe is:

1 cup almond flour or tapioca flour
1 cup coconut flour
1 T cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup So-Delicious coconut yogurt (1/2 cup is one small container)
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla
If this recipe was a bit dry you can add a bit of coconut milk or coconut oil to make it sticky enough for baking.

With just these ingredients you could take prepackaged honey along and that would make a good snack or a great bread with soup. This you don't have to keep cold either and can eat with your fingers.

Here is the Lara Bar link http://shop.larabar.com/LARABAR-Cashew- ... ar@LaraBar like everything else in gluten free land a bit spendy, but on the bright side I don't think you'd eat a lot of them on a daily basis, so one a day is not out of the question.
Thanks Erica! For the recipe and the Lara Bar link. I found the Cashew Cookie Lara Bars on Amazon for $17.20 per 16 count box (free shipping with Prime). That's $1.08 per bar...not too bad. I ordered a box. Here is the link: https://smile.amazon.com/Larabar-Snack- ... cookie#Ask

Drove out to the boonies this morning for a dozen duck eggs. On the way to work picked up another 12 count Uceris sample from my doc to start until I get the scrip approved (hopefully) and filled. Feeling ready to embrace a new outlook once the Uceris tells my WD to scram. I hope it listens and behaves.

Still disappointed in my doc...like, why did he not write a Uceris scrip right off the bat? and some other stuff...but at least he is medicating me correctly now. Yeah, now that I asked for it. <sigh>

Thank you all so much for putting up with me.

Thanks Joanne!
I just ordered myself a box of them, that will last me quite a while...I'm not a prime member (I don't order a lot of stuff) so I was able to get my box for $1.52 each included shipping...better than direct from the Lara Bar site.

You're welcome.

I never used to order much from Amazon but once I dropped my Netflix for Prime video it became very attractive to shop Amazon for nearly everything. With free shipping, the lowest prices on most stuff I buy (but not all), decent enough videos/shows for my tastes and a lower fee than Netflix it was good for me.

Now if I couldn't get Law&Order on my cable TV app then I'd have to reconsider.

When any fruit is dried, it becomes high in sulphite - which tends to link in with high histamine.
Dried fruit is probably the single biggest source of sulphur dioxide your children will ever encounter, although if they are affected, it is unlikely that either you or your doctor will make the connection.
In Australia, dried fruit can contain extremely high amounts of sulphites – 3,000 parts per million (ppm) compared to 2,000 ppm in the UK, and far higher per serve than any other food consumed by children. Figures from actual analyses are hard to come by, but government and industry reports say that levels can be close to or over the limit. Analyses by a year 12 chemistry student at a Brisbane High School of dried apricots, peaches and pears found an average sulphite level of 2885 mg/kg. That means an average 200 gm packet of dried fruit would contain 577 mg of sulphur dioxide, or 144 mg per 50g serve
sulphur impacts digestion (it is one of the causes of smelly gas)

Safest oils are coconut oil, and animal fats. (if you roast meat, keep the fat and then use this to coat vegetables etc)
So I did some research since I really didn't wanna let go of my dried bananas...although I was willing to...and discovered that my dried nanas just might be acceptable. They are sold as sulphur dioxide free https://nuts.com/tag/fruits%20without%2 ... %20dioxide and https://nuts.com/driedfruit/banana-chip ... nanas.html which is pretty obvious since they are darn nasty looking. But yummy and an easy snack.

I am really enjoying my potato shreds cooked in coconut oil...much better than olive oil. And eating way less white potatoes since I found those yummy sweet potato chips made with only coconut oil and sea salt. http://www.vitacost.com/jacksons-honest ... tato-chips

Thanks again all! Still WD but with a better attitude.

if you think that the dried banana is not causing you issues, go for it.

watch serving size, (for sugar content) and make sure you drink lots of water when having them (to make them easier to digest)
and some companies use vegetable oils with the dried fruits to stop them sticking in the packet

glad you are enjoying the sweet potato with coconut oil. the gabe safe products like that here in Aus are too expensive for me $6 for 100grams.
my rice protein shakes only cost me $4 a serve and that way I am getting good serve of protein each time i have snacks. (about 25grams of protein)

Happy healing

Thanks for the tip on drinking water, Gabes. That makes sense. I typically eat only one of those dried bananas a day. The combo of mildly sweet and chewy feels like I am enjoying a treat and if I need a boost while out and about one does the trick. No oils used in this product...not listed (as they are in most other dried fruits I've researched) plus they stick to each other and require prying apart.

Ouch! That's pricey. Here a 142 gram bag costs $4. I am gonna try making my own. Too chicken to try a mandoline for slicing but I have a peeler that makes decent sized strips. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1 I will try baking with coconut oil and sea salt but will also try dehydrating. Ordered a dehydrator today to make meat jerky. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1

My kitchen life is really changing. :-)

I made the Paleo muffins last night following this recipe from the "Paleo Muffins ???" thread with (changes) as follows. They are sorta bland...not surprising since I couldn't add any of the fun stuff; I kept thinking "needs salt" while I was eating them...but two filled me up and each muffin has 7 grams protein for a total of 14 grams. Way better than I was getting for breakfast!

Paleo Apple Muffins

1 very ripe banana
4 eggs (subbed 3 duck eggs)
1/3 cup water
1 organic apple finely diced (subbed 1/2 C. organic applesauce)

2 1/4 cups almond meal (used super fine almond flour)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 heaping tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 cup coconut oil

mash the banana with a fork (used a potato masher) then mix the first 4 wet ingredients together then add the melted coconut oil
mix the 3 dry ingredients together
pour the dry ingredients into the wet and mix well with a spoon
fill greased muffin tins 3/4 full (used paper muffin liners)
bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 mins or until toothpick comes out clean. (baked for 20 minutes)
makes approximately 16 muffins. (made 12 muffins but I prolly filled them too full)

glad it worked out

sadly for me, I have been allergic to banana's since childhood, so I have got through my 6.5 years MC journey with next to no fruit

bland/taste wise, our tastebuds adjust after 3-4 months..
and down the track with healing etc there will be options to expand ingredients that you can use.

Saw my new GI doc today...

Post by Jumpindogs »

...and what a difference. Oh my gosh. He told me some of the stuff that is on the MCF website and some of what you have written, Tex. He is kind, knowledgeable and professional. His PA has all those qualities plus she is very thorough. They listened to me!

I know I have a long road ahead but having a quality health care team on my side has made such a difference in my attitude today.

Best guess on the Mag flo lotion is going to be that it carries the same potential as the oil because you may let it stay on without wiping anything off due to the salt residue and therefore it will soak in completely given a longer period of time left on the skin. Assuming you are applying a dollop on legs and arms it could be roughly 200mg.
I called the Life Flo Nutritional Product Helpline today and got the answer: 330 mg magnesium per teaspoon of lotion.

I had ordered the Ancient Minerals mag lotion too and tried it for the first time last night. Yuk...my legs still felt sticky this morning! Life Flo absorbs pretty quickly for me with no sticky residue. That might be an individual response though. But at nearly half the cost and nearly twice the mag...AM is 185 mg mag per teaspoon...LF is a great bargain.
