Hi Clare - so glad to hear you're feeling better already. Just google Enterolab - all the information you need is on their website. They also have an 800 number and are very helpful on the phone, if you have questions after reviewing their website. Good luck!!!
Love,
Kari

Hi Clare;
Welcome aboard! I think deciding to use the Entocort is a wise decision. and although you don't feel like you have any food intolerances, it is the collective experience of people on this board that most people with MC are gluten intolerant. Some people can get drug-induced MC and when they stop the drug, the MC goes away, but for most it is something in their diet, often many things (for those of us with multiple intolerances) that is causing the inflammation in their gut and causing the bowels to not work properly.
After having been dx'd over ten years ago, and getting no help from doctors (no one ever suggested Entocort... I don't think they had even heard of it then ) I finally found this board last spring. I went Gluten Free in June, and tried another drug (Low Dose Naltrexone) first with some improvement but nothing like lasting remission, and it was not until I started the Entocort 1 and 1/2 months ago that I got total relief of symptoms almost immediately after 13 years of suffering. You can bet I am one happy camper and would urge anyone with MC to use Entocort along with diet to control this, so that you don't suffer needlessly. I was able to drop down to one pill right way and have not had any side effects from it.
I hope you quickly find relief for your symptoms and wish you the best in your journey to health.
Linda

Go for the Entocort
Hi Clare,
go for the Entocort! It is a miracle worker. Remember, this drug alone will not help you. You probably have to stop eating all kinds of breads or wheat. The funny thing is that I can eat Sourdough bread and it does not make me sick.
There is also other foods I cannot eat, but, the best way to find out what not to eat is by eliminating foods, that you think made you sick. I even tried Ensure, because I had lost so much weight, and discovered Ensure was making me sicker.
So make a food diary and take your Entocort.
good luck,
Karen

Feeling better
hi all, I've been taking Entocort for 4 days now and feeling much better. Still having some D episodes, but pain and nausea is much diminished.
I've also started going gluten free, soy and dairy, lactose free.
I really miss my morning coffee with fat free half and half!
however, I like black and green tea and tolerate it very well. (not a fan of herbal teas) My favorite and occasional coffee treat is Starbucks latte!

Clare that's very good news that you have already responded to the Entocort!
I am a really coffee hound too , and I think not having cream in my coffee has been one of things I miss the most. I did not have to give up coffee, thank goodness because it has never bothered me or stopped me from going into remission. But I did have to give up the cream because I have been Dairy free ( actually casein free but it basically amounts to the same thing) for seven years. In that time I have been on a perpetual search for something to replace cream. For a while I was using the Silk Coffee Creamer, a soy product, or Mocha Mix, also a soy product, and they taste pretty darn good, and when I had a mocha I would have it with Soymilk. But one day I got really sick after a mocha with soy , and concluded that I must also be soy intolerant so had to give up the Silk creamer. Enterolab results said I was not intolerant to soy, so either they gave me milk by accident with that mocha I got so sick on, or the test results were wrong. Either way, after that experience I was kind of turned off to soy (understatement) so set about looking for something else for coffee, and rice milk just does not cut it! But I think I have finally found it.... Silk brand True Almond milk. I don't know if you can get it where you live, (only one store carries it here, and they are often sold out) but it is almost as creamy as the Silk Soy Creamer, 1/4 of the cost (because it comes in two quart size instead of just a pint) and I tolerate it perfectly.

Hi Clare!
I'm one of the people tackling this disease with diet alone (and a few pepto during flares). Going GF/DF improved my symptoms 80% within 10 days. No more pregnant-looking belly, no more tenderness in my gut, and D only 1-2/day. I'm still trying to figure out how to achieve total remission, but life is much more livable now. MC is more of a nuisance now. But the diet was tough to accept. I've been at it for almost 6 months, and it took 4 months to complete the stages of grief. Grocery shopping and eating out were so depressing. The holidays are proving to be tough too. But eating GF has never been easier - there are so many new products out there. You'll eventually reach a point of acceptance, and you'll develop a good list of staple foods that you can always turn to.
I too am a big tea drinker now. I love Earl Grey, green teas, white tea and fruity teas. So Delicious Coconut milk and Silk Almond Milk have been indespensable too.
Good luck on your road to remission!
