Naty, that's great! Tex commented recently in another thread about the value of 'sleeping on' a writing project (he was much more interesting and funny than I'm making it sound). With the eased pressure, hopefully you can let the modernism essay 'percolate' or 'ferment' while you turn your attention to your other writing, and still have time to give it a thoughtful look-over.

It's funny how many food/digestion words we use for intellectual endeavors - I notice that a lot lately!

Wow - that's a hectic schedule!!!!! Having gotten to know you a bit through your posts here, I would say you are a bright, spirited and resourceful young lady

That is an abitious writing schedule! Reminds me of why I will never go back to school :cool:

. I was the biggest procrastinator and bullshit artist in school. I paid careful attention in class, but I always did my work the night before it was due (often all night), read the Cliff's notes or scanned the books for quotes, and remarkably did very well under pressure. My parents never scrutinized my study habits because I got good grades (I wish they had). I still do my best work under pressure, but I sure regret developing these habits of mine. So I can't offer any advice on study habits and how to accomplish all this. However, I'll share my regret that I never REALLY read all the novels I was supposed to in high school and college, and I'm quite certain I missed out on enriching material. When I went to grad school and saw students trying to finish their degrees in one year instead of the usual two, I wondered if any of it would sink in. I spoke to some of my friends on this track and sure enough, they were going through the motions but didn't get much out of it.

So I guess my point is, be sure to stop and relish the opportunity you have to learn. A good education is a gift (often a very expensive one!!), so make sure you are getting all the intellectual benefits of your labor.

I think my favorite paper was something like "Similar themes in T.S. Eliot's 'Wasteland' and the Short Stories of Ernest Hemmingway". It was so depressing and convoluted they just gave me an A+ and congratulated me on an "original idea"!!!!! Puhhleease. We used to read trashy romance novels just to get a break....many a bodice-ripper was passed around from lit-major to lit-major.

I'm getting a bit nostalgic, can you tell?
