Thanks again everybody, I just got into the hotel and desperately need to clean up and then head out shopping for safe foods for the week. Gloria thanks for thinking of me and looking at the MRT list, I look forward to your suggestions.
Gabes thanks so much for all that you have done, it has been priceless.
I will spend more time with responses a bit later after I get some food and rest.
Hey I've got my Aussie flags now !!!!

HI Joe.
So happy that this trip was smooth and not like the last one. I know that you will probably only have one more after this one and then you will be settled there. I am still envying your career change and just grabbing the brass ring and going with it.
Look forward to the photos nad travel reports and also want to express my thanks to Gabes for helping make your transition a lot smoother.
Love, Maggie

Time for an update.....
Yesterday was a good but busy day where I was able to meet with a friend in the area and visit with a GP to dicuss supporting my current treatment plan and laterin the day a visit with Shauno the local acupuncturist
Gabes had recommended a local GP Dr Camilo, although I was somewhat late for the appointment I did have a chane to spend 30 minutes with him reviewing my medical records and go over my plans for the next 6 months. I found him to be a very good doctor who was willing to listen to the patient. I look forward to working with him over these next months
Later in the day I had another opportunity to have a session with Shauno Price the local acupuncturist that Gabes used to see when she lived in Brisbane. He is excellent, after a session with him you feel like a million dollars. Well worth the time and minimal cost. It wil great to be able to visit with him on a regular basis.
Today I will be meeting with my new employer at QU to go over paperwork and generally meet with the various coworkers, overall another busy day. This will be interesting and a bit nerve racking meeting the new co workers and my manager all at the same time. I would imagine this is how a sample under the microscope must feel LOL
Now that I am used to the stores in the area I was able to find really good ingredients to make a ginger shrimp and chicken shrimp with baby peas stir fry for dinner last night, it was great. It's amazing what you can make in a hotel room...
As it was raining yesterday ther were few oppotrtunities for photos. I am sure there will be plenty of chances for great photos during this weekends adventures with Gabes

Well folks today was the day when all the paperwork was completed with QU. I haven't had a chance to play with the new camera much, but after the meetings this morning, I did snap a picture of the building I will be working at most of the time. The campus is huge and beautiful, There are many park like areas and walking paths through well tended gardens.
Here is the sciences / engineering building
When I got back to the hotel I found I have a frequent visitor on the balcony
So far this trip with Gabes help, I have been able to find a local doctor that is knowledgeable about mc and Crohns. This was great Gabes had such a good recommendation as we know how hard it is to find a good doctor.
Il have completed the paperwork with QU and have had a chance to begin the house hunting process. I have established a local contact with a real estate agent that is willing to help out with finding. Rental property even though she does not typically work with rentals.
On tuesday I had another session with Shauno Price the Brisbane based acupuncturist Gabes used ti see before she moved. He is very very good at working with the IBD issues, I left feeling great, especially after the 32 hour transit just the day before. I would highly recommend acupuncture as a supportive therapy for anyone with MC.
Tomorrow I will be heading up to Toowoomba for a Bio Impedance Analysis session where I will bet reviewing this treatment and analysis tool as another method of detect ing food intolerances. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the MRT testing I just had done.
Well from here forward it should be a relaxing fun time visiting with Gabes, Im sure I will have plenty of photos over the next few days
The soon to be Aussie
Joe.

I haven't been reading much here for a couple of days, but WOW Joe, you really are making progress, paperwork, co-workers, doctor, house search. It must be really great to already have a PP friend there, especially when her name is Gabes.
You movement sounds much better prepared than my, but since we are all different in our MC and diet, we are also different in our movement to other countries :-))
I understand this is preparation trip, when are you actually going to move there?
And oh yes I do understand that flag feeling, one thing I love about this board, especially during my first week in my first stay here, the flag the initial prove that you are there.
Please you keep us updated here, love to read about all the developments. You are in many ways an inspiration to us all!!!
take care

Joe, it's wonderful to hear about your progress, and you sound so positive and excited... it's quite contagious. (Maybe that's what that little bird is after, too!)
I'm going to do something optimistic and exciting today in your honor. I can't wait to hear more about your experience with BIA. And everything else!
Thanks for sharing the adventure,
Sara

Rich,
gabe typing while joe dictates......(i can type faster than he can)
Nestle's passport and relevant documents are all ready for the transit, Nestle will spend 30 days in Australian domestic pet quarentine based in Western Suburbs of Sydney. Nestle has had all the necessary pre-checks and vaccinations, she just has to pack her favourite rug and toy.
Based on some of gabe's wish list, Nestle will have to do some trips to the mall for US based goods, and gifts for her new aussie friends.
Joe thinks Nestle's packing and transit will be far far easier than what Joe has to do for the rest of the move.

Well folks this trip is sadly over. It was a great trip and a wonderful chance to spend it with a great MC mate Gabes. As I mentioned in this and other threads I was able to complete several tasks in prep for the move and was able to spend the long Easter weekend with Gabes and her wonderful friends touring the countryside, it was a magical weekend. As harma pointed out having a friend in the area makes all the difference in the world.
The trip back was long but uneventful, fortunately I do not have to go back to work until this Monday so I have had a few days to adjust to this time zone again. On Friday I did not feel well at all and the mc symptoms flared with a vengeance, I doubt it was due to foods though as Gabes made absolutely sure I ate a MRT and mc friendly diet there and had safe foods for th flight back - thanks Gabes
I am feeling better today, so most likely it was just the stress of travel that caused the temporary symptoms.
Overall it was a magical trip and a successful one. This is proof that with some good planning and discipline we can live normal lives, it really is a matter of understanding our intolerances and listening to our bodies. With this understanding we can accomplish anything.
I did have the thought recently that I have now flown the equivalent of around the world twice in 7 months, the first time at the 'suggestion' of a certain board member....Gabes, and of course the second time due to that first 'suggestion'. As a bit of history last July I had the opportunity at work of picking the location where I would like to give my lecture and after some discussions and 'encouragement' Brisbane was decided. It was due to that lecture that a job offer was recieved... So it's off to Oz I go. Although I should mention that I have had the thought of retiring there someday for the last 15 years so this opportunity was just meant to be.
My take away from all of this is that things happen for a reason, there really are no such thing as coincidences, I view them as confirmations of our decisions. Even something as negative as a diagnosis of mc and Crohns has turned into a wonderful positive, one I would not have known about had it not been for mc and Crohns and the wonderful people here in this family. Overall listen to your heart and take hold of life and your dreams, don't let fear of this disease rule your life - look for the positives and enjoy life... It's too short not to.
Getting a diagnosis of mc is not the end of the world, it really can be the beginning of a new and wonderful one if you let it. It's all about your attitude.
As Gabes mentioned Nestle has her passport all set and will be going to the mall this weekend with her friends to do some shopping. She is looking for ideas for gifts for her new Aussioe friends, if anyone has some let me know and I will pass your suoggestions on.
Thanks again everybody and thanks Gabes for everything....
I guess I will be a New Hampshire Yankee in King Wally's court... If you catch the literary pun.
Joe
PS: I am due to finish the BIA post this weekend, that was to say the very least an eye opener. Gabes has been helping me with some of the research and I hope to be able to share with the group this incredible technology.

Nice commentary on life Joe. A good summary of how to "stop and smell the roses" along the journey. Welcome to the frequent flier club, and welcome home, for the time being. And yes, I can attest to the travel and the upsetting of your routine (not to mention the time zone change) being the reason for your flare. Glad you are feeling a little better today.
Will plan to visit you some day in the land down under. I am envious of the opportunity have cultivated for yourself. Nice work.
Rich
P.S. Still liking that iPad. Loving mine.

Hi Joe,
Glad you made it back safe and sound without too much difficulty. Your flare was probably caused by the stress of all that has been going on. Thankfully it didn't last too long.
Your trip and future life sounds wonderful and I'm very happy for you. I honestly think this must have been the fastest three weeks ever (evah, as we say in NE).
When you get settled in please email me so we can set up a time to get together.
Rest up and enjoy the weekend.
Nancy

Thanks Rich, I am loving this iPad it's awesome. It really does replace 80% of what a laptop can do. After reading your note I grabbed my old passport and was able to roughly figure out that since 1993 I have flown enough miles to circle the globe 17 times, wow that's a lot.
Nancy I will send you a note this week and we can setup a date to get together in Nashua., of course dont forget Alecs shoes, that's a great store.
Well Nestles mentally prepared for the move, she even knows what direction to face to get there LOL She does see the packing starting here and when I mention 'let's go to Australia' she looks at me and barks...

Joe,
I will have to add up my miles to see how many times I have traversed the globe. Not sure how I plug in all those charter miles I have flown this year.... But I can approximate.
I look so so so so so so so forward to a day where I travel, perhaps, only once per month. Perhaps in a few years. Flying more charter flights this year has been a refreshing break from getting molested by TSA every week.
I am going to try my first trip, next week, taking only the iPad. By the way, you need to get the cover from Marware. It covers the front and back and has the magnet in the flap just like Apple's. Kind of a tight fit but I got it on. Really works well and protects the whole device nicely. I hav a Speck cover for my MacBook and this is every bit as nice.
Glad that Nestle is going with you. Will she need to be quarantined for a while before she is released back to you? Are you going to miss all your friends and family back home?
