Sheila, thank you for your timely question. I was just getting ready to post a question, "Where's Norman???" when your post came in. I've been on Entocort 9mg (3 capsules) since June 10th. It stopped my XD that had been visiting me up to 25 times a day for 4 weeks. Then I was constipated but figured that it was because my colon was clear. Here I am 3 weeks later and I've not had a visit from Norman. I just get little floaters and pieces. The responses you've received are leading me to think I should cut my dosage. When I checked in with my doctor two weeks ago, I was told to try Milk of Magnesia, but when I had a little poo I didn't follow through with the MoM.

I wonder if my cutting out gluten and dairy at the same time as starting the Entocort has played into this???

After I get through a wedding on Sunday, I'll try going to 2 capsules and see what happens.

I hope you feel better.

It is very confusing when you start on the entocort. I almost never read directions and the entocort bottle was no exception. All I saw was "3 x a day". Well, I took one at breakfast, one at lunch and one at dinner. I was reading about the side effects of entocort on another website when I noticed that it is a 24 hour time release drug. Boy, did I feel like a dope! However, that mistake got me to try taking 2 a day instead of 3 and that's a good thing. The one day I took 3 resulted in a day when I couldn't go at all and was so uncomfortable. I have been GF for about 2 1/2 weeks and I think that probably enters into how we react to the entocort. I am going pretty normally but certainly not like it was back when I was normal and not a victim of MC/CC. I have cramping and some urgency but at least it is in the morning, not all night long, and it's over after an hour. That is a huge relief.

I hope you are doing better and learning how your body reacts to this drug. I wonder if there will be any weight gain from entocort since it is a steroid. So far the only side effect seems to be a slight headache and some fatigue. Anyway, it is a whole lot better than before and I'm thankful for that.
