I can eat the same thing for breakfast almost every single day and have very few foods on my menu. I also don't have to have breakfast foods for breakfast. If there is something left from the night before I often have it for breakfast. Mornings are hard (I feel awful in the morning) so the easier the better. I do like the Corn Chex (with rice milk) really well. And citrus is a problem for me, too.

Hello Everyone and thank you all for this forum. Without it I really would feel alone in that no one else understands the diet restrictions and emotional elements of MC.

My question today is this: if you are having D several times/ even with clear liquids, how/when do you transition to ground turkey and veggies?? And if D continues, do you still do the BRAT diet before beginning the MC diet?

Hi Lb,

Welcome to the group. Every case is different, but it takes a while to calm the inflammation. Exactly what foods are you eating now, and how long have you been eating them? Are you taking any kind of medication?

Thanks Tex. I have been reading your informative posts since diagnosis 2 months ago.
I have used the info to change my diet, and my life!, since then. Having good days and bad while trying to figure out triggers. No gluten(for years), and now no dairy, soy or eggs. Yes I have cheated w a bite of ham, a sip of wine, a piece of candy, but for the most part I eat homemade broth, rice, turkey or lamb(ground) and a few cooked veggies. Also use BRAT diet as a base so lots of bananas and some melon. I will be fine for 3-4 days then boom! To the bathroom I go for 2-3 days.... so now I am ready to stop the cheating but wow...accepting the restrictive way of eating is very difficult for me...thus the forum.

Immodium makes me nauseous but I take it if I have committments..
Was prescribed Budesonide but really want to use as last resort-or never-and will do whatever it takes diet-wise first.

You probably just need more healing time (after you tighten your diet to make sure that you're not getting any gluten, soy, or dairy). The inflammation is slow to fade away, so it almost always takes longer to see improvements than we think it should. Without budesonide to mask the symptoms, most of us take from 3 to 6 months or more to see improvement. Some take as long as a year or more. A few are lucky and improve in just a few days, or a few weeks, but that's not true for most of us.

I find that I have to limit my banana intake. A small barely-ripe (never fully ripe) banana or half a large one is fine, but twice as much is not fine and it causes me to have histamine problems. And many of us (including me) cannot eat melons. Melons contain quite a few unfriendly natural chemicals. Ground turkey should work fine for you now, as long as it is free from gluten, soy, etc.

Your diet in general sounds fine. You're on the right track and seem to be well on your way to recovery.

Hi LB! I have a stash of budesonide, but the same last resort thing. I take Lialda, (mesalamine) known as a maintenance drug, non steroidal, however just had a (minor?) flare this week out of nowhere. Seems Nocturnal incontinence is know for women over 50 who have CC...ugh. Last night, no D. Who knows. I just keep eating with no cheating. It's an insidious disease. Hang in there. It's only been a few months for me too. Didn't really get strict with diet till Dec. DX was October. So glad I found this forum!
