When I mentioned a lot of symptoms to my doc he looked at me like I had ten heads. Then I come here and find that people get sores in their mouths, joint pain, etc. I am a nurse and figured out that I should take Zantac on my own and was pleased to read here that it helps. My doc gave me Asacol and when I took myself off I went back to tell him that it made me feel worse. He said "Oh well, that's the only treatment, go back on it when you flare." In the last few days this site has been a great life line for me for validation. Doctors are human, there are good ones, mediocre ones, and bad ones. The problem is that as a society we treat them as authorities and they are rarely questioned. Therefore, they can forget to challenge their own knowledge. That is dangerous. Also a lot of research is skewed toward what might be beneficial for companies and treatment plans are designed around approval from research. I love this site, because it is real-life research.... All of that being said - here are some things that can cause rectal pressure as well - hemorrhoids for sure, uterine fibroids, adhesions from prior damage - maybe a c-section or prior surgery of the abdomen, a dropped uterus or bladder. With all of the swelling that comes from CC,LC,MC, that can cause pressure too or swelling through out the general pelvic area. Worse than having an ignorant GI, I have found that our medical system has become so highly "specialized" that a gyn may dismiss the fact that MC, etc, may effect GU, Gyn, etc. It might be worth a trip to the gyn because they could order a CT scan or ultrasound and make sure that is ok. I hope this helps. It's all trial by fire. It is so frustrating counting on ignorant "assholes" who don't have a clue what you are going through and its impact on your life.
I'm so sorry about your experience. I won't even get a new GI for fear that they are all the same!! I asked my current holistic doc about L-Glutamine and he was supportive of my taking it to help close my leaky gut. This seems like the right time, since I am at least 80% there and may stand to benefit from the additional help to kick MC's butt once and for all. He said there is no downside to taking it.
One way we realized my leaky gut is healing is that I went out for a sushi dinner and had LOTS of GF soy sauce. I didn't have any reaction, not in the slightest. He suspects the soy molecules didn't get through this time. Yipee!!
