Is this the way Entocort is supposed to help???

There's no specific place for venting - so just vent away, wherever you want.

A fair number of members have tried it, but it doesn't seem to have any magic powers for MC, CC, or LC, (other than the glowing sales pitches disguised as personal experience, occasionally posted by spammers).

I guess you could always just go to new topic... and then vent :)

When Entocort doesn't produce the desired results, it means that we have to eliminate the foods that are causing the problem, from our diet. If you wean off the Entocort this early, (especially, if you do it without fine-tuning your diet, and without giving your gut time to heal), you will probably relapse, but that's just a guess, based on the accumulated experience of the members of this board.

I quit coffee when Entocort quit working for me. It quickly started working again. Now to try to get off Entocort for the umpteenth time. I've been on it since 2007; that's way too long. I will do the Enterolab test this week or next to see what else shows up.

Lili, call enterolab and ask them if you have to be off entocort since you have been on it for so long, before you do the tests.

Leah, nice pic! You are very pretty.

How does Entocort work? How do you know when to start reducing your mgs?

I was diagnosed last month and immediately starting GF, DF, SF, and caffeine free after the colonoscopy. I received immediate relief from the D but still had bloating, pain and urgency, as well as more than usual for me Normans. I waited two weeks, until after sending off my samples to Enterolab, to start the Entocort. Now I have C and smelly gas as well as the bloating and pain. As I am sure you can well imagine, it's hard for me to trust the gas.

I was hesitant to start taking the Entocort because of side effects but decided to give it a chance in hope that it will help with the pain. What happens if I don't stay away from the food sensitivities while on Entocort?

I too appreciate your wisdom and am learning the language of the Potty People.

entocort

Since you have C, it is a sure sign that you should probably SLOWLY lower your dose of Entocort. While you are on the drug, you should definitely continue to Not eat foods that you are sensitive to. You will never get to remission if you do. The pain and Gas might be simply because your intestines are still very inflamed, but it sounds like you are eating something that is irritating it. Besides your intolerances, there may be other things like salad, raw fruits and veggies, beans, chocolate ( even COOKED broccoli and cauliflower)...etc that could be causing you problems right now because your intestines are so inflamed. Take out one thing at a time and see if the gas and pain get better.
Good Luck

And Thanks Lesley :)

I have only taken it for three days. The C started on day 2. I am wondering if I need to take it at all since I don't have the D. I mostly want relief from the pain (and fatigue).

Thanks for your help in trying to understand this.

Rae,

As Leah mentioned, if you have C, then you need to lower your dosage of Entocort, because it will very likely cause increasingly worse C, as time goes on. If you didn't have D to begin with, and it's not helping with the pain, then it's probably not a good idea to take it at all.

fatigue

Post by Leah »

You may want to take a B-12 and a Vitamin D supplement for the fatigue. I had immediate relief from the D when I started the entocort, but when i tried to step down too fast, the D returned. See how you feel on two. It's all very individual.
