It is sad to think that we have to line lawyers pockets to appeal but there you go.
I'm so annoyed that they would use the 'maintenance of weight' against you. It's like punishing those who are doing their best to eat right and have quality of life with this disease. I guess it is their way of lining the doctors pockets too. I'm real sorry that they treated you like that and if you appeal I wish you the best of luck. You are so right - if they had to live with this for even a month they would understand our frustration, and how are whole life is effected. ARRGGG!

I am going through an attorney for my diability claim. They only get paid, if they win the appeal, which we
all know it goes to appeal. He said, he is sure he can win on appeal.

His fee, only if he wins, is 30% of the total amount of back pay..... from the time I became disabled, which,
was 2 years ago.

I have enough stress in my life and I have no desire to fight that battle. Let the lawyer take his 30%...
one time shot. worth it to me.

Most of these attorneys have people on staff that have worked with Social Security, so they know
the system.

Yes, Tex, and let's not forget that if and when an application that has been denied is finally approved, because NOBODY gets approved the first time around, any lawyer you hire to represent you will take as their fee 100% of whatever you would have received for every month you were denied when you FIRST applied for SSD. So, if you applied in January, hired a lawyer in April and your lawyer got you approved the next January, the lawyer will take the first 12 months of your SSD. It's a racket, I've had friends who have been through this. You're better off preparing your own case and fighting back after each denial yourself, Pat.

I did, and without a lawyer. I wasn't expecting to but the examining doc must have believed me, or else he saw something that I didn't know at the time.
