Jean,

Your Enterolab results look very similar to some of my MRT results. I hope that eliminating some of the foods on your reactive list will be the key to getting better for you.

Hi Jean, I was going to mention sweet potatoes also. I recently found Ore Ida frozen sweet potato fries ( crinkle cut) are delicious and I just take a hand full and put them in the toaster oven. Have you ever oven roasted carrots? They are great. Just peel and rub with olive oil, salt and pepper and throw them in the oven at 450 degrees. They will caramelize and brown. The tips will even get black. very good.

Jean,
I was eating mostly chicken and rice while waiting for my results. I got them back and what do you know? Those were my 2 most reactive foods. But I am reactive to corn as well, so potatoes are all that are left.
I am glad you are improving, and that you are getting to what bothers your gut. You have done it relatively fast!

I can't eat sweet potatoes  , which was one of my favorite foods. However, Zizzle, I never liked them boiled. Just baked, or as chips.

I guess I should get organic potatoes, given that they are my main starch and I eat a lot of them, but since I am eating grass free beef something has to give. I get them at the farmer's market, where I am assured no spray is used, but that they are not organic.

Roasted carrots are delicious, Leah.

Thanks for the encouragement and eating tips. Clearly this is a work in progress. Right now I am eating about 4 foods, ground meats (lamb, pork and turkey) and homemade kale chips (kale with the rib cut out, chopped into pieces, drizzled with olive oil or coconut oil and baked for 15-20 minutes until crispy). I think I got things under control quickly because eating had become so aversive, the effect of putting food in my system immediate and severe. Although it was the worst it had ever been I knew from past experience that a diet consisting mostly of meats and broth had the best chance of keeping things under control. I suspect, under the guidance of this group, that mast cell issues were primary here, so that knowledge has helped me too. I am steering clear of all high histamine foods as well as all reactive foods according to enterolab. I also know from past experience that I can't handle much fiber.

Although I have stopped the wd I am still left with a constant feeling of bloat not specifically in reaction to food, but 24/7. like my intestinal tract has been pumped full of air along with gurgling and a sensation of things moving. This makes it hard to tell if I am reacting to any food more than another now, which also makes me not want to mess around too much with diet. Today I will buy some almond butter since almonds are my least reactive nut. I used to be a low carb eater and would like to get back to it so I am not sure of adding in sweet potatoes and carrots (root veggies are high carb) and my rice experiment did not turn out so well. Too much diabetes in my family to want to go that root but going gf/df/sf/ef makes it hard to stay very low carb. I am however determined to figure it out so I will :).

thanks again everyone. So nice that you are all here.

Jean, due to numerous issues I try to do low carb and it is hard with this disease. Paleo seems to most fit the needs best but I still tinker with rice and potatoes (mostly on weekends) and some corn. I currently try to minimize the carbs (mixing potatoes with cauliflower or turnips, 1/2 a sweet potato instead of a whole, etc) using almond and coconut flours, etc. but I'm not always successful.

Hi Jean,

Kale chips are REALLY good if anyone has not tried them. They are easy to make, have a good crunch, are another way to get a veggie in, and kids love them! I make them similarly to Jean's recipe. Brandy
