Thanks Cathy. Didn't realize that bakers and brewers yeasts were so closely related. I'm going to start by eliminating gluten and see how I do. If things aren't resolved then I'll eliminate dairy, yeast, prozac....right on down the line. Thanks Leah and Tex for all the valuable info. Again, I'm very appreciative.

Laine, I've been on Entorcort since February and am not able to go lower than 3mg/day right now. I went GF/DF last November and then SF/EF in February once I got my Enterolab results back. I decided to eliminate all known food intolerances at once instead of one at a time because I wanted to hurry up and heal. It's been about a year now and I'm better than before but have a long way to go. It was a struggle to give up everything all at once but I'm glad I did. It was mentally easier for me to label foods as a clear cut yes I can or no I can't. It would have been too easy to cheat if I continued to eat off limit foods with the intent of eliminating them later.... kind of like "I'll start my diet tomorrow" while eating a big slice of pie.

I took Tex's advice and was tested for IgA and IgG deficiency. The test results came back normal. So could I be a very rare MC patient and not be gluten and casein intolerant? (I posted my EteroLab relults earlier in this thread.) I asked them to mail me the results but it looks like I'm not deficient in ammunoglobulins.

Tex I bought your book and am learning tons!! Thanks for writing it!!

Sorry....posted twice. Didn't think first post went through. Sometimes have trouble with postings. Also have trouble changing my password. It will work one time but then the next will default back to my old one...

Hi Laine. I think you can be one of those MC people who doesn't react to gluten and such ( very lucky)....maybe because your MC was triggered by drugs? Don't know. But if you are still have D problems, you might want to stay away from irritating foods like beans ( fiber), raw fruits and veggies, acids ( like tomatoes) until you get a handle on your symptoms.

Keep us posted

Hi Laine,

No problem, I removed the duplicate post. When you change your password, be sure to remember to click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the form, so that the new information is written to the database.

Thank you for the kind words about the book. I hope it helps you to find your solutions for controlling this disease.

Concerning your normal results for the immunoglobulin production test: I agree with Leah. It's certainly possible that you might be one of the rare individuals who have not developed any food sensitivities, but as Leah suggested, this sometimes implies that drug-induced MC is the problem. Are you taking any drugs, including HRT, or contraceptives? There are many drugs that can cause MC, and when food sensitivities have not been triggered, just discontinuing the drug responsible for the inflammation will typically bring remission.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
