Thank you all for your responses. It really gives me more to think about regarding my food choices when not at home. I used to eat salad everyday but stopped when my LC symptoms began because I figured my body didn't need any more cleaning out, lol. Normally my everyday staple food choices are soups, rice, chicken, potatoes. I can see now how the corn and spinach would make me so sick. This Thursday my Aunt got a turkey from Whole Foods so I will try a small amount. She's putting aside some plain potatoes for me. I'll let you know how it goes :-)

I had an epiphany as we were taking our fresh turkey out of the brine and prepping it for tomorrow. Hubby was making his recipe for the outside of the bird --an herb rub...in butter. Doh!
He figured I'd be ok basting the bird with a little butter, and I sort of am, but that means I need a separate gravy made with giblet stock or something. And who knows how sensitive we might be to butter, and how much gets into the bird. Anyway, food for thought on this most frustrating and depressing of holidays!

Hi,
I've been in Utah visiting DD for the past week and haven't been on the board much. I ate turkey at my SIL's parents' house. It was a Foster Farms, and was GF. That is, the turkey arrived GF, but they put stuffing in it and who knows what else. I was in the bathroom 6 times the next day. No more eating foods others have cooked. The turkey was the only food I ate that they provided. I brought everything else and even used my homemade salad dressing in place of gravy for the turkey.
I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We'll be flying home tomorrow.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Bummer Gloria. Turkey stuffed with non GF stuffing is definitely dangerous territory, even if you eat the outlying parts of the bird. I hope it was a good visit otherwise. I enjoyed preparing my first Thanksgiving -- having that control over the ingredients and the work surfaces was a blessing. I plan to host from now on!
I ended up having a problem on Thanksgiving also because I ate some salami that was put out as an appetizer. I usually can eat a little Columbus dry salami, but this was a Kosher beef one. Anyway, I was up at 1 0'clock in the morning in the bathroom. Couldn't figure it out ( my mother in law cooked the stuffing separate). Then I was in Trader Joes and looked at the ingredients to this salami. The second one was soy! Mystery solved.
