mcnomore.... Bananas...any fruit, can keep your problems ongoing ..I haven't eaten fruit in a few weeks, and I miss it so much, but its irritating to the gut....like Leah says....it is like rubbing sandpaper on a wound.
Does your bread have yeast? That could be an issue. Are you sure the meats you eat are nonreactive to your system? I did an elimination diet. I only ate one meat, one veggie, one nut for three or four days to see how I reacted, and kept a journal.
If you've had MC since '07, and you're having issues, I think you may want to look more closely at your foods. Do you take any meds?
It's all mind boggling, I know! :)

Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my G.I. problems were connected to MC after the watery diarrhea stopped until a couple of months ago.
I am back on Asacol since June 8. I am also gluten free and dairy free for a couple of months and have been corn free and soy free for several years. Stopped eating cooked vegies about 10 days ago which made a BIG difference.
In the last couple of weeks I have been feeling quite good with only one reaction when I tried to eat applesauce so I think the banana and yeast is ok.
I am waiting for the results of my Enterolab panel C. Thanks for your help.

Good luck Linda. Everyone said what I would have. The one thing I want to add is you should only change one thing at a time. otherwise you won't know which worked! And remember, it's your quality of life that is important, not the quality of your BM. Sometimes I'm normal. and sometimes, it's softer then I'd like... but I feel good most of the time and can enjoy getting out and doing things.

mcnomore....let us know your test results when you find out! Sometimes they are surprising (as in my case!).
Leah...thank you...I do feel more like myself, and I do have to stop obsessing with every little detail (it's my personality, unfortunately!)
I will keep reminding myself to enjoy!

I tested green for cocoa on the MRT test and hoped that meant I could eat it. Try as I might to make it work, I had to give it up, probably because it's high in histamines. I love chocolate; it's the only candy I ate. This is an item where we need to "turn the switch off" and not even think about eating it.
If you haven't been rotating your foods, this would be a good time to try. If you eat the same meals or ingredients every day, it's nearly impossible to determine which one(s) are causing you problems.
Here's hoping you get better!

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Gloria,
I don't eat enough foods to rotate. The daily routine (that I posted) is all I can eat, right now, and I'm not successful with just that anyway. I think I have to eliminate the egg replacer first, then switch walnut for cashews. Then the chocolate....remember it's only about a TB of mini chips....or is that enough to set me off???
That's for all your advice previously, too!
I made my breakfast bread with just pecans today (no walnuts) and no egg replacer, but I did use some baking soda and powder, and it was too dry... should I try one flax or chia egg tomorrow? That would only be 4 gr. fiber, and I really don't eat any fiber, so it shouldn't hurt.

Linda,
I just gave up on the idea of baked goods being part of my life, so breakfast looks like lunch looks like dinner. I know that many people here figure out a way to incorporate baked goods into their diet but for me it seems to work best to simply give them up entirely or it might just be that I am lazy Maybe you could try going a few weeks without anything baked and see how that goes. It doesn't necessarily have to be a permanent change but it might help you figure things out.

So do you eat veggies & meat for breakfast? I might be heading in that direction.....but oh, what I would give for a big bowl of crunchy buckwheat/rice cereal with fruit & coconut milk, right now!
Jean...I always remember what you said a while ago...I'd rather eat simplistic, just veggies & meat, and be able to leave the house with confidence , than not!

Yes, meat and veggies or meat and a few blueberries, which I seem to do OK with. I just read Michael Pollan's new book "Cooked" and when he talked about bread I had a strong craving for homemade bread, hot from the oven, slathered with butter. Luckily I can distinguish between a fantasy and reality. I try to let these cravings go as soon as they arise. Mostly I'm content with how I eat, although to most people it looks impossibly restrictive, but, as you say, not as restrictive as not being able to leave the house.

I don't eat any baked goods either. A few months ago I gave them one last shot, when I tried a Betty Crocker GF cake mix, but every time I tried a slice, it gave me D, so that was that. I suspect that all the sugar is the main problem.

Hi, Always look at the ingredients in any g-f dessert or bread mix. I have found the the first ingredient is sugar in the dessert mixes. I always look at the ingredient lists for any prepared g-f product and it is mostly the same ingredients that have no nutritional value. I use only the breads that are made from brown rice flour. Jon
Leah,
I really believe I just can't handle that much sugar. While the mix does contain xanthan gum and soy, there is no tapioca ingredient. The primary starch is potato. My EnteroLab test for soy was negative, and though I generally avoid it anyway, I have never noticed any symptoms from soy (thank goodness). I have a hunch that most people who are sensitive to soy, will also be sensitive to xanthan gum, but that's just a guess. I've never noticed that it bothered me in other recipes.
