Just ordered! Thanks so much for the help and suggestion.. So excited at the thought to not have to spend 3+ mins wiping away with paper and wet wipes.Martha wrote:For the clean-up issue, the Soft Spray Bidet sold by on the Dr. Mercola website is wonderful. It has a nice spray of water directed up at an angle, and really gets you clean without having to use toilet paper. I consider it one of the best investments I've made.

is there any test I can do for leaky gut? last time i asked if he heard of that he hadn't and basically said stop playing dr google.. sigh.
What about any test for parasites - H. Pylori? environmental toxins? - was living in a house for 5 yrs that was overgrown with molds? Bacterial dysbiosis test? Food intolerance test? I know they just don't do any justice compared to Enterola but can it hurt until I can afford the gold test?
Any other suggestions - I really have no clue if and what I should bring up tomorrow as I feel like a new person compared to last yr but I also know I have a ways to go and I really need to do a little better job with identifying trigger foods to take the next step towards remission. I'm just throwing stuff out there to talk about with GI DR. I know a lot of what I typed probably makes no sense but its a few things i remember reading about in the past but I really don't know much of the usefulness to my condition. sigh
Thanks all for reading my ramblings and supporting me, its such a tremendous outlet to have to talk and interact
with others that get this overwhelming and challenging disease .. hugs

Steven,
There are tests available for all of those things. But they're not cheap. For example there's a urine test that checks for the clearance of either lactulose or mannitol, neither one of which is digestible, and therefore shouldn't be able to get into the bloodstream and be subsequently removed by the kidneys. The presence of either one in urine is evidence of leaky gut syndrome.
But the stool tests by EnteroLab are prima facie evidence of leaky gut, also, because food sensitivities are not possible without leaky gut.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Whether you have Microscopic Colitis or any other IBD, you have digestion issues due to inflammation.
the process to remedy is the same;
-Eliminate as many triggers as possible,
-minimise the ones you cant eliminate,
(Mostly foods, but consider other triggers such as enviro, mold, pollution, chemicals, stress, etc etc)
- follow a low inflammation gut healing eating plan
- take important nutritional supplements that help the body heal, support the immune and adrenal systems etc
Further, IMO rather than spend the money doing a test to see if you have leaky gut, (which 90% of the population would have) spend that money on the good quality gut healing protocol; such as
- eating plan
- lifestyle plan
- supplements that will help heal leaky gut. Good quality Vit D3 (lingual), magnesium, Vit C, Amino Acids (which are readily available in home made bone broth)
What many have learnt is that there is no exact science to all of this, our best guide is listening to our body.
If you want to do further research on parasites/bacteria/Sibo/biofilm bacteria etc suggest you look up 'Gut Health Protocol' john heron.
Aside from the info here, there is LOADS of free info on the net that provide really good info.
the most important part is, there is no quick easy fix or perfect solution that works for all, each person has to bend and flow to what is going on in their body, and it takes diligence and time...

Thanks so so dang much Tex and Gabe! Without everybody here there would be a lot of humans feeling like they're on their deathbed with little hope like I was back a yr ago.. There is never enough I could give back in my lifetime to pay you all back. Thanks from the bottom of my heart again! Hugs
I'll let you all know how today's consultation with the GI goes... Can't imagine it will be all to much outside the usual blah blah do yo want some meds.

Good luck at your appt. today Steven, Gabes gives outstanding info and advice and Tex is always on spot when we need to hear the right thing at the right time. We all have a sixth sense about what we should be doing once we read and listen to others on this site. I hope you find a plan for your self that works for you soon
