magnesium defiiency

Post by lulu »

Thanks Tex, that explains lots. It's getting harder & harder to trust Drs. nowadays. Scary. I will start taking the higher dose when my chelated magnesium gets here, and continue I trust, until I feel everything is feeling much better? Am thinking you said at least 400 mg? I see now why you said your Drs. didn't catch it. All this Dr. wants to do is push pills. She's mad that I won't take meds for my Neuropathy, fibro & MC & arthr. I chose her because she's a D.O., and had one at one time, but she's not too handily located now, so thought this one would treat more naturally too......NOT. I always felt they treated the whole body more. Oh well. I have a friend who also has colitis, another form, and Neuropathy & fibro, she's almost bed ridden now, and her Dr. has her taking like 9 different meds daily. She wasn't that bad before all of the meds, and one of them must be a strong pain reliever, as she can't remember a thing lately, & has become bloated & overweight. I just won't go there. At 70, I take no RXs & hope to keep it that way as long as I possibly can, and be able to get around like I do now until I can't. Other than the after affects from the Levaquin, I get around like younger people & am not overweight (I'm 70, & most can't believe it), so hopefully can get there again w/ mag. supplement. Thanks for your knowledge & help. I got your book in mail yesterday and starting to read it now. Looks interesting.

If you aren't showing any severe symptoms, 200 mg per day may be all you need, but most of us need a higher dose for at least a few weeks to get us back to a more normal level, before lowering the dose to a maintenance level.

I agree with you on the meds. The more meds we take (especially stronger stuff such as immune system suppressants and corticosteroids), the more problems we tend to develop (because of the side effects). All drugs have side effects. The most significant side effect of treatment by diet changes appears to be better health.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

magnesium deficiency

Post by lulu »

I'll try taking a little more for awhile, to keep my energy going. I was so lazy feeling, no energy at all, that the morn. after soaking in the epsom salts, it was such a difference, couldn't believe it. I used to use the salts more, and just got in to not doing it for a long while, no reason. I actually think the gluten may have caused my Neuropathy, from something I've read... which wasn't bad, but after the Levaquin, it's some worse now. Then after taking the 200 mg. of mag, my constipation also quit, and got back to normal. A friend of mine got the 200 mg. at health food store & got the wrong kind, so should have the chelated kind any day. I don't need diarrhea again, I've done so well being gluten free. I ate some gluten one night eating out & they didn't understand me when I asked about it, and didn't even have D, but am sure if I kept it up, I would get there again. Will experiment for awhile & see how I feel. I've finished the antibiotic from my latest round of sinus infection. Now looking at Naturopaths again, we have one here that's even into cells, they say he's just fantastic. Even my old Osteopath told me that.
