Based on what Kari and Martha E. said, I decided to give Daiya cheese another go. I looked for block cheese, but couldn't find it. I bought cheddar slices instead.

I give this a thumbs-up. It melted and was stretchy, just like the container said. I have eaten it 4 times now--two grilled cheese sandwiches, with pasta, and in my scrambled eggs. It was best in the grilled cheese sandwiches. My first sandwich was on homemade boule bread, from a recipe in Gluten Free and More magazine. The second sandwich was on Rudi's multigrain bread. The homemade bread was better for the sandwich, as the Rudi's was sweeter, and didn't seem to go as well with the cheese.

Anyway, I am happy to revise my previous low opinion of dairy-free cheese.

And based on the recommendations, I gave it another go also............and it's still a NO GO for me! There is just something about the taste that I really didn't like............

I'll just have to learn to live without cheese. I've done it for 9 months now; I will continue!

Jari, we all learn to live without, don't we? The magazine Gluten Free and More used to be called Living Without. They changed the name about a year ago, doubtless to give a more positive outlook to our necessary diet changes. They have lots of excellent articles and recipes for our types of diets.

Yes, Martha, sadly we do, and yet, most of those things I don't really miss anymore. And I certainly like feeling good as opposed to the alternative..........

Thanks for sharing that magazine title. I figured there was something out there somewhere but really haven't looked. I'll have to look for it!
