cold sores is a good sign, it means the virus is coming out - the body is releasing the toxins

hang in there, keep nurturing the body and help it heal.

Martha,

Thanks for sharing that information. I've suspected that shingles is much more likely to be triggered in patients who have a chronic magnesium deficiency, but supporting evidence is not easy to find.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Vaccine is given at drugstores and billed to insurance, not at doctor's offices so it is cheaper there. Don't get it done at doctor's office.

I have been on daily Valtrex for at least 10 years due to oral and vaginal herpes from my screwed up immune system. It was only a matter of time before shingles would arrive and I knew that. We were hoping daily Valtrex would hold it back and I guess it is really helping as all of the outbreaks are very very minor. I have had no problems getting prescription companies or doctors to agree to daily Valtrex for this reason. Without it my fever blisters are nonstop and I just cannot deal with them.

Just FYI: I've been told by my friend, who is a D.O., that the shingles vaccine is 50% more of the chicken pox vaccine and it's 50% effective. Perhaps for us, perhaps something is better than nothing.

When I got my vaccine, I asked the pharmacist about my friend who was currently active with shingles and he has Crohn's. He never had the vaccine and he was also under a lot of stress. Anyway, the pharmacist said that my friend should wait 6 months before he gets the vaccine; so, if your nurse suggested a couple of years because of continual outbreaks, that makes sense. Sounds like our bodies need to be fully recovered before the vaccine is administered.

Hope you all that are currently going through this are feeling better soon
