Thank you, Tex! I’m uneasy about taking them and don’t plan to start. Do you think the magnesium and Vit D is enough or would you recommend a calcium or “bone health” supplement? I drink Almond milk most days and have been eating a Greek style almond milk yogurt many days.

I’m so grateful for the input I continue to receive from this board. Things are going well, thanks to you, ~

Best wishes ~

Hi Pam,

That's probably enough calcium if you keep your vitamin D and magnesium levels up, especially if you eat any green vegetables regularly — they're a good source of calcium. If you should decide to take a calcium supplement anyway (to keep your doctor happy), remember that it will deplete magnesium, so you will need to take additional magnesium to compensate.

Hi Pam...

I totally agree with Tex re the bisphosphonates. I also just started seeing a naturopathic doc who also agrees with what Tex said. I have had no problems with the OsteoPrime Ultra. I am taking 5 capsules a day per my naturopath. The OsteoPrime has vitamin K2 as an ingredient, which I have been reading a lot about. "They" think it can be very helpful for helping bone density. You should Google vitamin K2 for bone loss. Here is one article:
https://saveourbones.com/vitamin-k-osteoporosis/.

I have been feeling much better. Stools are slowly getting better and better. Naturopath wants me to try to reintroduce some foods so my diet is not so limited (scary thought, though, since I'm doing so well and don't want to backslide!). He also thinks I may have SIBO and wants to test for that (I can't get rid of the woozy-dizzy head feeling!).

Anyway, I told my Women's Health doc that I was going to try supplements and exercise for a year rather than the Fosamax. They will redo my bone density in a year. Fingers crossed because the bisphosphonates scare the poop out of me!!! Good luck. I say stick to your guns and don't get talked into the drugs!

Also wanted to add that my energy level has improved tremendously in the past month. I attribute it to my increased dose of B12. My leg cramps are nearly gone and I am amazed at how much more energy I have! My last hurdle is to figure out what's causing this stinking woozy head. But I do feel I'm on the road to recovery!

Thanks for supporting what I had posted about the bisphosphonates. Regarding:

Are you by any chance taking Imodium (or something similar)? I tried it after my abdominal surgery and even as little as half a pill made me dizzy. A whole pill made me so dizzy that I couldn't stand up without risking losing my balance. This is not a common side effect, but for a few of us, it's a real problem.

Thank you, Louise! The article on Vitamin K is very interesting. I’m happy to hear that you are feeling better and hope you find relief for that woozy head feeling.

Best wishes ~

Hey Tex,

Nope...I rarely take Imodium. And when I do, I don't seem to have any adverse reactions to it, but it does wonders for me when I do have bouts of D. I'm pretty convinced that my woozy head is due to sugar intake. I am going to track it more closely now... I had found a chocolate that is dairy, soy, gluten free that I have been indulging in and I'm thinking that is what has made my head so bad the past couple of weeks. My naturopath suspects I may have SIBO issues...

We shall see. I just need to find the willpower to give up on ALL sugar for a while to see if symptoms subside.
