Food sensitivities don’t produce an IgE response though, do they?? Only allergies do that?? I have ordered some tests for food intolerances, not with EnteroLab though. I have a feeling that overnighting a sample from Australia would be extremely expensive (if even possible...). And I’m really looking forward to seeing what those results show. But that still leaves me wondering about the IgE issues I’m currently having.

Thanks so much for providing that link too Carol. I read through it all. I’m hesitant to add any more supplements to my dail6 regime while I’m still in my initial inflammation stage. I had planned to stick with just Vitamin D and magnesium and then once my systems settle down, then add anything further that might be necessary.

You're correct — the simpler your recovery diet (including meds and supplements) the better.

Yes. food allergies do produce an IgE response. The intestines (and the rest of the digestive tract, for that matter) are loaded with IgE receptors for that reason. For example, someone with a severe food allergy only has to touch the food with their lips to evoke a powerful allergic response.

But note that an allergic response will occur in seconds or minutes, while an IgA response takes hours,

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
