Now I'll question anything I read by Dr. M as he managed to take 2 and 2 and get 5 or 6 out of that article.. In the past, I'd thought he made sense, but now I'm beginning to wonder if he understands how to read a journal article!
I've always preferred to read primary source documents instead of letting someone else tell me what something said, and this just reaffirms that doctrine of mine.
Don't worry, people, I'm harmless, just have a little more experience in some things, just like you have more experience in other things. I like to talk about both, however! Ha!
Barb, I'm not sure the connection you made with my post, but obviously it struck some sorta nerve, but hey, it's ok to let your feelings out, so if it helps, feel free...anytime!
Yours, Luce

No--No----I was hoping it wasnt taking as such----
I was only saying that I value what U have to say and respect your knowledge---
Sorry if it came out as *pinching any of my nerves*
Perhaps, with what has been going on in my life ,I am sounding *testy*
Again---sorry for the misunderstanding----

the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control
Thanks, Barb! Actually, I was more worried about you, than anything, so I'm glad that you expressed yourself. I keep up with your posts fairly well...well, until more recently, so I can just imagine all the feelings that you have inside, and will have for a long, long time to come. You probably have the best way of dealing with your feelings of anyone else I know!
How are things going right now, since I've gotten a little behind on the news?

Luce,
Your comments about Dr. Mercola caused me to wonder about his veracity myself, since he does often seem to have his own agenda, in many of his articles. Sooooooo, I went to JAMA's site, and registered, so that I could access the full text of the original article by Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
I am forbidden to reproduce the text of that article here, by the terms of my agreement with JAMA, but after printing out the full article, and printing out Dr. Mercola's version, and then comparing them side by side, and line by line, I can tell you that although he has rearranged the order in which some of some of the information is presented, and replaced some medical terms with words that are more easily understood by individuals without a medical background, there is absolutely no difference in the statistics, nor the interpretation of the statistics, between his report, and the original JAMA article, by Dr. Starfield.
The original article provides additional discussions about why the author believes that these problems are occurring, so if you are interested, I would suggest that you register at the JAMA site and read the original article yourself.
As far as I can tell, Dr. Mercola's presentation of this article is an accurate representation of the original article as published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Anyone in the world can register, and read the original article, and/or print it out, for their own personal, (non-commercial), use, if they would like to see for themselves.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
