Yes, ethanol can be made from virtually any grain. The problem with the fuel from wheat scenario is that wheat is priced about 30 to 40% higher than corn, due to the fact that it is such a popular food item, but it won't produce any more ethanol than corn, therefore it is overpriced as a feedstock for making ethanol, (except for low grade feed wheat).

That price relationship is not likely to change, barring production changes, because the millers will bid up the price of wheat, to assure that they have an adequate supply for the baking industry. The only way to push the market price down, relative to corn, would be to persuade peple to stop eating it.

At least that's the way I see it.
