Oh, if chicken is the cause of rapid turnover of serotonin, I must have it too! I'm curious which bacteria is high on the organic acids test?

Cristi,
Your naturpath is correct, chicken and turkey meat does contain significant amounts of tryptophan which tends to raise the seratonin level, but I doubt that would raise the level to a point that would will cause significant problems. An elevated seratonin level should make you drowsy.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Cristi,
That sounds like the toxin that the bacteria releases, probably not the bacteria itself - I beleive. I'm sure your naturopath will have some good recommendations for a natural anti-microbials if she feels that would be called for. Paraguard is one that is commonly used.
There are so many brands of probiotics! I use HMS Intensive by Seroyal alternated with Sacro-B from Thorne Research. Those were recommended by my naturopath. I think the Sacro-B is supposed to be especially good in the case of D.
It's nice to connect with someone who is using natural medicine too!
Good luck! Celia

Hi Celia,
It is nice to connect. I just started this journey because I have major problems with most traditional medications. My naturopath is great in that she'll try to get the medications that I need in cream form to apply to skin...thereby not having to go through my stomach....which was extremely sensitive even before I got MC. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all this will help somehow.
Thanks for all your info,
Cristi
