Shirley,

I HATE THOSE DREAMS!!!! Why is it that mothers are SO prone to them??? I have to say this kind of dreaming happens to me QUITE often, even in daydreaming form, while I'm awake. If I hear or see a news story of a toddler who died for some reason or another, I'll get this sudden image in my head of my OWN children dead!!! It's SO disturbing and pretty much ruins any mood I'm in..

You're lucky you don't remember them..

Trent tries not to let me see any news stories like this..

Wow! You folks really know how to have nightmares. Usually, if I have a nightmare, its about something mundane and boring, such as tornadoes, floods, fires, vicious animals, etc., unless I have fever, and am maybe a little delirious, in which case I dream about gargoyles and other exotic creatures, or dream about out-of-body experiences.

Christine,

You don't have to feel guilty about dumping her--she deserved it after behaving like that. LOL.

Tex,

I know!!! I can't imagine why I even DID feel guilty!!! lol

I've had these horrid nightmares ever since motherhood. I think it's my brains way of making me take precautions. As a result, I'm EVER WORRIED.

Back a few yrs ago, when people were leaving babies in cars and they were dying often, I used to check my backseat 10 times on the way to work just to make sure I'd dropped them off.. after 20 billion days of doing everything the SAME way over and over again, there's no way I could distinguish in my memory between one day and another, so consequently I had to keep checking.. I'd even go BACK to my car and check after I'd already been at work.

Sidenote: motherhood makes you SO SO SO SO stressed when it's a *new* concept.. taking a kid to daycare, paying for daycare, picking them up on time, it's a WHOLE new set of responsibilities.. back when my first was a month or so old, I'd find that while I was on the road, I'd suddenly *wake up*, become alert and oriented and yet not aware of WHERE I was, HOW I got there, and whether or not I stopped at every stoplight on my way there.. sometimes I'd have to wait until I passed an exit sign on the highway to figure out just WHERE I was..

So I guess, in my mind, I can understand how someone could become so disorganized as to forget their sleeping child in the back of the car.. I just can't imagine the guilt that would result.. Oh wait, I CAN imagine it, and that's the problem!!!!
