The snow covering the corn probably helped to protect it. Plants get through freezing temps better if they are protected. Of course, we are usually just trying to protect the roots...plants are usually dormant when we get frost, except for in spring and fall.

We got 6 more inches of snow last week and it covered up all the signs of spring...tulips, daffodil shoots starting to poke out of the ground. All the grass that was exposed in the yard is burried again. We are definately getting cabin fever bad and it was getting better before last week because we were able to walk around the yard (albeit some patches were still 12-18 inches deep in snow).
