I've discovered that Ciao Bella makes a coconut sorbet which seems to be OK with me.
The ingredients are: water, coconut cream, coconut meat juice, organic evaporated cane juice, salt, citric acid, shredded coconut flakes, pectin.
No gums, or carregeenan, which can be problematic.
I also need to try some of the recipes on the Cuisinart site and the others mentioned in this thread.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Gloria! I am just so happy you can enjoy an ice cream you don't have to make yourself! I'm going to go out and buy stock in Ciao Bella. I griped about them in the past, as there was a period in NYC restaurant history where *every* sorbet or gelato or - whatever - was from Ciao Bella, in every restaurant... so getting the same dessert everywhere was kind of disappointing.
Some NYC restaurants actually contracted with them to make particular flavors.
(Looking back on this... I was already leaning away from baked goods - I never wanted a pastry after dinner, if I could have the sorbet.)
They are, despite my prior whining, EXCELLENT. I'm so glad they're available to you.
A few years ago we had an olive-oil flavored gelato (or sorbet??) from the Laboratorio del Gelato. If only those people did MC research instead of frozen-dessert science ;) I promise you, if I can create a DF/*F version... I won't just send the recipe - I'll FedEx a batch. (This may take some time in the kitchen lab!)
It feels as though this thread has resurfaced in the nick of seasonal time, before the summer heat waves.

Oh, this is good to know. I'm pretty sure that the Whole Foods I go to has this. Thank you!Gloria wrote:I've discovered that Ciao Bella makes a coconut sorbet which seems to be OK with me.
