Hi there Erica
How do we know if we need magnesium or various other vitamins.Who does this testing?.

Listen to your body, symptoms and wellness are your best indicators.
In the case of magnesium, majority of the population is magnesium deficient so everybody needs magnesium.

For things like B6. I knew i had resolved the deficiency when key health issues linked to B6 deficiency (histamine reactions etc) abated. I now take maintenance dose, and increase when needed

For Vit D3, the doctor or the Vit D council have reliable testing.

I am on 2 entrecorts for one week then I was going to stay on 1 for a while.My.d is better far from perfect.Should I stay on 2 for 2 weeks then 1 for a week then slowly wean off 3 a week then 2 a week
again listen to your body, dont try and apply time to the healing process, the body will tell you when you need to make next adjustment.
everyone is different there is no set fixed protocol of tapering that works for everybody

Also is udis gluten free bread okay.I am desperately trying to find safe snacks.Eating prote in and a little veg for meals leaves me hungr
as we mention in the stage 1 eating plan, minimising processed flours food items is best way to healing.
safe snacks - have protein based snacks, and eat larger serves of protein at meal times. eat until you are no longer hungry.
eating processed flour items as snacks will not provide healing benefit.

Can I have gluten free and dairy free cheese in small amounts
not ideal at this stage of the healing journey

Any cookies that do not have a lot of ingredients that are safe.I love baby cookies I guess that's out.
as mentioned in the stage 1 eating plan and in my reply to Lauren in the main message board - process flours and sugar are not your friend. Things like savoury paleo muffins with minimal ingredients, and have some protein at the same time is MUCH better option.
there are lots of recipe ideas in the dee's kitchen part of the forum

Kambucha/saurkraut
not ideal in the early stages of healing as they tend to be high histamine items. once you have fixed magnesium and B6 deficiency, then you can start/increase intake of high histamine foods

Also I am going to start the oils,
I wouldnt start any oils the moment.... too many changes at once. get your eating plan sorted as this is key for long term wellness.

if I do EnteroLab testing do I do the testing first does it affect the lab results. What's your opinion on doing panel And C.

what sort of lab results are you talking about?
Most people do the A and C panel enterolab testing, this provide the most useful information for fine tuning safe eating plan.
how long have you been on the entocort?

Gabes,

Speaking of B3, did you happen to notice any articles similar to this recently?

Vitamin B3 in Vegemite prevents some birth defects, 12-year study finds

and

After 90 years, Vegemite is Australian-owned once again

Sure did Tex!!
and key discussion amongst the Pyrrolle group.

I lived on vegemite as a kid, i could eat large amounts off a spoon! the joke was that I would 'tar the road' with the amount of vegemite I would have on toast. I only stopped eating vegemite when I got MC and wanted to avoid the yeast and that was probably the first time in my life that I needed to supplement with B3.

It is enthusing to see creditable studies getting mainstream media about the importance of key nutrients for various health issues...
heres hoping that mainstream medicine start to educate and train physicians in these key nutrients (in lieu of training from Big Pharma)

An H2 blocker is always safer than than a PPI. Here's how to stop using a PPI:

Newbie multiple symptoms

Post by kberry7171 »

Hi I am hoping for anyone's advice-In the spring of 2016 I had papilry thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed, which resulted in me taking levothyroxine which now regulates my hormones. Anyway I've had stomach issues mostly constipation. So I decided to have a colonoscopy to see check fo Celiac disease or any other possible issue. I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis. My dr r commend me to go on the low Fodmap diet which to be honest I did not follow. My issue is constipation and not diarrhea. I have also had canker sores, or little blisters in my mouth, distended stomach, swollen glands on a hr back of my head or behind me he ears and facial acne. I believe these all Could be a result of LC. What foods besides gluten
Should I eliminate? Any advice?

whether you have consitpation or diarrhea, it is still related to inflammation in the gut due to food triggers.

the canker sores/blisters and bloated stomach are also related to inflammation/toxins due to food triggers like Gluten, Dairy, and high histamine foods.

beside gluten, dairy is a definate (it is highly inflammator to all people not just those with IBD's) avoiding processed foods, sugars etc is also key.

to assist the constipation issues, supplementation with Vit D3 and magnesium will help, along with increase water intake, increase fat intake (either or by fatty meat serves / increase safe oils like coconut oil etc) gentle fibre will also help via things like vegetables/salads.

hope this helps

This do s help. I did read something about not having raw vegetables like salad but that may be for those who suffer with the diarrhea. do you have a list of foods or a forum for those of us who suffer from constipation?

you could have small amounts of raw vegetables - or having vegetables that are half cooked (rather than well cooked)
the eating plan is still the same as for those with D, low inflammation, bland (no spcies etc) whole foods, good serves of protein.

http://perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22328

the main addition for those with constipation is to increase water intake, and oil intake

you dont want to increase fibre too much as this 'bulks' the stool, and as you are inflammed this will make it harder to pass and be more likely to cause discomfort etc.

Day One on Elimination Diet

Post by kberry7171 »

So I did well on day 1 of the elimination diet - I suffer only from constipation with my LC. My symptoms are swollen glands at the base of my neck, stomach distention, constipation, acne on face, hives on face and chest and blisters in mouth occasionally. I had chicken sauteed in olive oil, pepper, salt, very well cooked potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. I had only water with sliced lemon. I felt good all day and then about 2 hours after dinner, the back of my head behind my ear started to itch. That is a sign that my glands will start to swell. Sure enough the itching got worse and I woke up this morning and my glands are swollen. The good news is that I woke up and my stomach was not swollen and I felt normal again.

Are the swollen glands because I ate something that didn't agree with me or my body "detoxing."
Also, I am going to buy Vitamin D and Magnesium today - should I buy them in a combined pill or buy separately? Also, what dosage should I get? Thank you in advance for your help.

I LOVE this site - everyone is very very helpful

I had those symptoms back when I was reacting. IMO it's due to a histamine issue, probably brought on by the chicken. It's an IgE reaction (as opposed to a normal MC reaction, which is based on IgA antibodies). But I didn't realize this back in those days. Chicken becomes a high-histamine food if it's stored refrigerated (not frozen) for a while. Try turkey. No one reacts to turkey (or duck, or goose, or pheasant, or quail, etc.).

I find that I can tolerate refrigerated chicken for roughly 24 hours with no noticeable symptoms. By 48 hours, it causes some bloating and minor itching. By 72 hours it causes significant bloating, severe itching, and diarrhea.
