the med will take away the intensity and allow you to figure out a safe eating plan. and the increased Vit D is very good idea
(also good to get the Vit D level up before our aussie flu season)

with our aussie sun, due to me reacting to most sunscreens (the alcohols etc) i started using pure lanolin as a sort of sunscreen when I was working in the garden i think the action of the sun on the lanolin via my skin it increased my Vit D level (my Vit D levels went up during this period - I also fixed the magnesium deficiency in the same period)
