bloating

I really believe that a lot of the bloating is do to sugar/sugar alcohol malabsorption. When our intestines are inflamed ( or sometimes even when they are not), we are not producing enough of the enzymes that break down these sugars so they can be absorbed in the small intestines. therefor, they go into the large intestine where they feed the bacteria there and ferment... hence the bloat.

What can we do about this? Check out a FODMAP list on line and avoid the foods on that list for a while ( 2 months). I have a feeling that you will see a tremendous difference. Then try to add what you think is "safe" back in one at a time. I know that this is just another food group to have to deal with, but if ou want to get to the bottom of the bloating, it's what needs to be done. The good news is that many of us already stay away from most of these things. We were just discussing cruciferous veggies on another thread. They are on the FODMAP list. There are the obvious ones, BUT then there are the foods that aren't so obvious that also need to go.
