That's my problem...I have to stay away from rice, corn, oats because I tested 2+ or 3+ for them on Enterolab. I am sensitive to quinoa, millet, & almonds.

I'm eating meat & veggies & nuts, but little else, and I'm just too hungry some days. :(

Jon,

I totally agree that avoiding sugar is a noble cause (especially for someone like me who seems to react to just about any sweeteners if I get more than a small amount). But I feel compelled to point out that in our weaker moments, most of us occasionally feel a bit decadent, and as our willpower crumbles and our desires sink into the depths of degradation, we crave some sort of dessert. And the primary reason why we enjoy eating dessert in the first place, is because we crave something sweet to top off a good meal. A dessert that does not contain some form of sugar can hardly be considered to be a dessert (at least it wouldn't fit my definition of "dessert". And according to Webster's New World College Dictionary, "dessert" is defined as:
noun

☆ a usually sweet course, as of pie, cake, or ice cream, served at the end of a meal
The bottom line is, I reckon I'll just have to continue to be deprived, because caving in to depraved behavior causes D.

Or maybe I'll try some of that rice pudding that was featured in another thread.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I have also been sooooo hungry since I've been getting better. After I had been on Asacol for 2 1/2 weeks I began to get my appetite back, but I had also been gluten and dairy free for a couple of months by then also so it may be the combination of diet and meds.

Although I got my appetite back, I still didn't have normal movements. I began to have normans almost immediately after giving up vegetables and any fruit except bananas that I only eat in banana bread that I make.

I stopped eating chicken when I stopped vegies because I have type B neg blood (in case the warnings that chicken is bad for my blood type is credible.) I'm waiting for my Enterolab Panel C test results to see if chicken is truly a problem.

I don't want to try a grain just yet, though.....like sorgham or teff because I'm trying to heal my leaking gut by removing grains....I know there are a lot of fantastic almond flour recipes, but I can't eat almonds, so I try using my own soaked & dehydrated pecans, but I only like to use a few tried and true ingredients....it's tough! :(

When you are ready to try bananas and grains I have a recipe that has only flour of your choice, tapioca flour or potato starch, ghee, salt, baking soda and bananas or carrots or whatever.

I have a love/hate relationship with sugar. it seems that I am VERY intolerant to fructose and sorbitol and the like, but am fine with honey, maple syrup, and plain old sugar... not to say that I go out of my way to eat sweets all the time. it's just not good for you :)

Leah

PS the best brownie mix I have tried is called 1 2 3 Gluten Free. I only do something like that for a special occasion and I am feeding many other people.

I don't miss added sugar in my foods. I haven't used white sugar in years. I did use coconut palm sugar though, but honey and maple syrup are just enough sweetness for me...which is amazing considering how much I used to crave sweets. It's kind of nice to NOT have the cravings now. :)

Hi, I looked up palm tree sugar and it had a good nutritional profile compared to other sweetners. Did you try it? Jon

Jon, yes, I did and it's great! It's more like a brown sugar, but I used it for everything. :)
