Great looking dogs, to bad they aren't breeding anymore. That BIS bitch Annie of theirs is absolutely beautiful. No wonder she was the top winning bitch of all time in the breed.

Have you thought about checking with the national breed club and looking into a rescue? You can find them by checking out the club's page on AKC.org...just an idea

I look now and then......

DD#1 has had such problems with her pound puppy (Fargo) after the honeymoon period (who knew about that). He's part border collie and pretty fearful. I can watch him and fiance's Poms at "camp".

Fargo looks like my beloved childhood dog Sport who was part fox terrier. The hoops DD#1 had to go through to adopt Fargo were just incredible. This is a woman who never wanted kids. They have 3 dogs and 2 cats.

They pay an insane amount for day camp and overnight camp.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with the border collie cross pup. Rick and I's first dog together was a border collie/ aussie sheperd cross and we never could get over her fear issues over certain things. It's hard with ones like that.

We have some of those issues with our rescue toy fox terrier, I saved her from a very abusive home, but never intended to keep her. But she has so many issues from the abuse, I couldn't place her anywhere and not worry about her, so she will live out her life here, which is fine with her because she loves Rick to death....

I'm off to take Keaton on a field trip to the feed store, this should be a party....

How was your outing with Keaton?

I just went to the Silken Yahoo list and saw a whippet lady posting, Phyre, I think.

He was a hit.....after one trip in the diesel truck, he has already learned to walk up to the truck, but his front feet on the nerf bar and wait to be hoisted up into the cab, not bad for 9 weeks old... He wasn't freaked by all the stuff at the feed mill, machines and the loaders didn't even warrent a ear flick, and he charmed the owners with his "cute and innocent act"...and they gladly fell for it...and he wowed them with already being lead broke and knowing how to retrieve a toy...just imagine what he can learn by 10 weeks....

I've heard of that whip kennel, I think they are mainly show breed, but maybe coursing and racing also....

Was talking with my co-breeder of our dogs about the Silkens, she said there are some kennels for them up in her neck of the woods, near Boston....but in talking with other people here in Okie-land, no one has ever even heard of one...the quirks of purebred dogs...never know where a certain breed is going to take hold....

I'm glad you and Keaton had such a good time.

We just made motel reservations for a Silken Southern Specialty Dog Show in northern GA (Calhoun) over Labor Day weekend.

One of the judges is Les Pekarski who has competed with Whippets, Afghans, Greyhounds and Borzoi.

I have no idea about the judge.

I've only met two Silkens and they were on the small side. :???: I just don't know about another Borzoi even though we love them. I think a Silken could have less poop and less hair. One would fit our yard better than a Borzoi. They may be too expensive because they are so rare.

I don't really want a puppy..........I'm not up for all that.

I found the Whippet judge is also the owner of the property and his greyhounds are Comet.

I hear you about a puppy, when my service dog came here as a 6 week old puppy 3 years ago, she was never in trouble, aside from one incident with playing with a TV remote, and was housebroken by 7 weeks. Keaton is doing great about not getting into trouble, and housebreaking in going great, it's just that non stop whippet energy. He is still only sleeping about 5 or 6 hours a night, and I'm getting to old for that...need more sleep....

If the silkens have whippet in them, do they have that very high energy level, or are they more laid back, like Borzoi?

I just don't know. The ones we met in B'ham were quite calm.
