Hi,

The main reason fruit is not recommended is because we have to limit our fiber and sugar intake (until our gut is able to do some healing), and fruit is loaded with both. That said, we can usually tolerate reasonable amounts, as long as we don't overdo it while we're still in the recovery stage. Until we're in remission, all fruit (except bananas) should be well cooked and peeled, so that they're easier to digest. After our inflammation is under control, and our intestines have begun to heal, we can tolerate raw fruit again. And until were in remission, most of us react to citric acid.
