Mike,
I have tested positive for fructose intolerance. I no longer have the gurgling, gas, or as many muscle aches. I also have noticed that I am intolerant to sucrose, and all the sugar alcohols: sorbitol, xylitol, etc. The sugar alcohols make me nauseated. I can only tolerate dextrose, I think.
I have also been diagnosed by Enterolab as gluten, casein, and soy intolerant. I get reflux when I have dairy. Haven't really noticed that much difference from not eating gluten or soy.

Hi, Just read through these posts and found them very informative!! Really useful to know what might be culprit foods (even though I know we are all different).
My intolerance are definitely Gluten, Dairy, Raw vegetables and spicy food. These for sure. I will still need to work out out others over time. Also waiting for EnteroLab results.
Bye the way is there a place on the board where the list is all in one place? All best ant

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Right now i could list all foods except anything with rice...but when i'm not flared the bad guys are...
Veggies: all raw veggies but least tolerable are cabbage, cucumbers, peppers of any kind, cauliflower raw or cooked, soy, all beans (except green beans which don't really seem to be beans in the traditional sense)
Meats and fish: okay
Dairy: milk, butter, cream cheese, yogurt, eggs
Grains: previously okay (not sure now)
Fruits: grapes, cherries

The Lord never said it would be easy - He only said it would be worth it!
You're right. Most of us seem to be able to eat green beans, but not other types.Carole wrote:(except green beans which don't really seem to be beans in the traditional sense)

This is my favourite thread
This is my favourite thread. I am posting it so that I can search and find it easily. I wonder why there is no search or sorting tools in the this forum. whatever.
The suspects I am wondering about are: In order of biggest suspect to least suspect.
gluten -- 96% of the people in the post have this one. wow! getting a stool lab work done.
Sulfites -- I react badly to wine now and Japanese sake. I only knew about this once from reading this post. Thank you!
Beer and wine-- Might be connected to brewers yeast or sulfites. I have no problems with distilled liquor like tequila and vodka.
Caffeine -- I get hangovers the next day.
Corn syrup -- muscle pain
non fresh Juices
Soft-drinks
Brewers and Bakers yeast-- Tested positive on blood test.
Oats -- I get sleepy
cabbage -- There is F.O.S. sugar that good bacteria in the stomach feeds on that gives me a LOT of gas. Its not as common anymore.
Dairy -- I eat a lot of it still. I have not totally ruled it out. Looking forward to the lab work.
Soy -- Sometimes I have issues with sushi and soy is everything.
I will repost as I find out what it is

Hi Pinballwizard,

This forum is loaded with "bells and whistles", so if you don't see what you need, please feel free to ask, because it's probably here, somewhere.
The most common food intolerances are, (in order of prevalence among members here): gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, yeast, corn, and probably the next in line would be beef, and carrageenen, but these last two are somewhat uncommon. I may have overlooked something in that list, but if I did, hopefully someone will point out my omission. Gluten and dairy are very close in prevalence, about half of us are soy intolerant, and the other intolerances are much less common. Virtually all of us react to various sources of fiber, which includes most fruits and many vegetables, but this is not a true intolerance, (IOW, it's not an autoimmune reaction), it's an irritation, which occurs because the gut is already inflammed. Once the inflammation is controlled, (IOW, once the MC is controlled), the foods that are merely irritations, will no longer be a problem. The foods that are true intolerances, will always be a problem, and will probably always trigger a reaction. All true intolerances are proteins, and while sugars can trigger the leaky gut syndrome, and thereby prolong reactions, they cannot be a true intolerance, nor can fiber, (IOW, they cannot trigger an autoimmune reaction). There are many other food items that can cause problems for many of us, even though they are not true intolerances, such as the sugar alcohols, (sorbitol, mannitol, etc.), sulfites, citric acid, and virtually all artificial sweeteners, to name a few.
Beer contains gluten, (malted barley), and wines contain yeast, (and various levels of sulfites). If caffeine was a problem before you developed MC, it will probably continue to cause problems. If it didn't cause any problems before you developed MC, then it shouldn't cause any problems now, at least that's the way it works for most of us.
