Hi everyone! New here! I've been deaf since 10 and I'm "on the spectrum". I have had a form of MC since 12! Sadly, I have tried everything mentioned on here in my 50 years of this disease and nothing helps for long. It all seems to come and go with no connection I can see, and I've keep a detailed diary since I was a kid. You name it, ginger, flaxseed, gluten-free for years, no sugar for two years, juicing, ...oh gosh, so many things in all these years!
I wish I could say. "yes!" that works, but, as Tex, says, I'd like to hear from some of these people in a year or two to see if they are still okay. It's like diets. I love when people say I've lost all this weight and kept it off for a years....well, check back with me in three years! Ha!
Love to all, ( Birth Family from Midland Tx, btw...)

Hello Betsy,
Welcome to the group. Sorry to read that your symptoms are unrelenting. Call me a wide-eyed optimist, but I firmly believe that somewhere, there's a solution for everyone, if we can only find it. The problem is, in some cases, the key is extremely difficult to find.

Hi,
I'm doing well. My diet is still plant based, gluten free. I have omitted potato chips, chocolate in any form and of course nuts, popcorn...
I dilute my juice with half water. I daily mix crushed, two collagen pills, a zinc and a D3 in my fruit smoothies and puree vegetable soups. I eat gluten free bread, burger buns, pasta and pizza dough. I also take other supplements. It is all working for me. My BM has so improved (diarrhea has stopped) and my urine output has increased. My colitis symptoms are so relieved. Enough sleep is important and avoiding as much stress as possible, daily exercise such as walking a far distance.
I have taken a active part in improving my digestive health. There is no cure for colitis...I'm trying my best to educate myself. The intake of B12 is very important. Attitude, the up most!

Hi,
I believe I must be in remission. I am experiencing no diarrhea, only soft formed BM. Urination has improved. Separation, from both diarrhea and peeing together is gone. It feels too good to be true. No symptoms of colitis! I am drinking plenty amount of fluids and being careful as to what I am eating. Sleeping well, exercising daily, weather permitting.
My colon is healing. I wrote before it's like hearing the ticking of a bomb and waiting for the blast.

Hi,
All is quiet on the colitis front, so far. I'm feeling well! It is strange after so long...of daily suffering. I'm sleeping soundly! Our bodies are wonderfully made, able to heal and serve us will. What I am eating, supplementing etc... is working. I'm so grateful for this time of feeling well.

Hi,
I learnt a lesson after finishing a container of collagen pills and not purchasing another. I went some time without no problems with my colitis than I had a long lasting " flare up". I am back to using 2 collagen pills daily ( crushed and mixed into fruit smoothies or puree vegetables soups). I am recovering. I am now mixing 2 crushed collagen pills, one D3, one zinc and have added one vitamin C pill, one magnetism to my smoothies and soups.
A painful way to learn about one's gut requirements to maintain somewhat comfort in life and function. It is a juggling act if not a three ring circus.
I'm happy to feel better.

Hi,
I have to be more careful when I buy canned, bottled and package food items, to read the ingredients for chemical preservatives and food dyes, red and yellow. To look for more "natural ingredients". Ikea's jams are just that and tasty too. Walmart's Great Value natural peanut butter is a great find.
What is O.K. for one person's colitis I know does settle well with another's. Learning.

I want to tell y'all that I found "Naked Drinks." They are already ground up fruit with no added sugar. They don't say Gluten-Free but they are delicious. They're made in Irving, CA, and I want to tour the factory. Craig, my husband, has to give a paper there and I am going too.
Don't buy the green drink, I think it contains some type of grass. The carbs are already there for me to count for my Type 1 diabetes.
My primary care doctor, Dr. Gresham informed me that you don't inherit Type 1 diabetes but you do inherit Type II. I believe him.
Something caused our body to go haywire, because my daddy had Type 1, my bother has Type 1 and none of my paternal grandparents had diabetes.
Warm Regards, Dorothy

Hi,
We discovered a plant based, gluten free (bun) fast food "burger" called "Hero Burgers", so yummy. My take out treat. New York fries are yummy too. We need some kind of treats.

My problem with gluten-free food is: too much sugar! I may be able to eat it, but my blood sugar goes sky high. Then I end up calling their number and giving them the low-down. My neurologist's wife is a Type 1.5 diabetic and has Celiac disease. He told me "she was sick." She could also have MC and not know it or understand it. He went to Harvard and Yale. He's interested in me because I am just like his wife. She's from France.
He's trying to find out about my seizures. I had a 3-hour Brain Scan done on Lady's Island, SC. He said he found nothing wrong. That's good. He thinks my seizures are from my diabetes. He too thinks I am a 1.5 diabetic. I was first diagnosed as a Type 1.5 diabetic at Geisinger Hospital, Danville, PA, but that was 20 years ago. The seizure medication I take makes me drool and makes it thick enough to lay bricks with - it's awful medication. I hate it.
I just got finished eating Good Thins crackers. They are rice, salt and pepper. They're gluten-free. That made my blood sugar bounce to over 200.
Can I talk to anyone on here who is a Type 1 or 1.5 diabetic? I am down in the dumps and sad. Thanks, Dorothy

Hi,
It's been a long time since my last posting. Plant based diet, healthy and healing for the colon. Puree soups and fruits. Potato chips, no, no! Dairy, eggs and meat ( I loved eating them once but life is ever changing ) and of course gluten free and as the beat goes on so do the triggers go on and on...you can only find out for yourselves. Colitis is another wrapping on the layer of life. Nasty! We are wonderfully made but when something goes wrong due to ailments it can go...extremely so. I'm not vegan only eating a plant based diet for improved health. There are a lot of "yum, yum people" these days. Take out food etc...
