welcome! and sympathies that you are having a bad flare.
glad the information here is helping you.
we have a guidelines to recovery section towards the top of the forum page. in here we have a stage 1 eating plan that has helped many people reduce inflammation and promote healing.
keep reading and ask questions - lots of supportive people here that can help.

I am excited to read all these posts. I was I initially told 5 years ago that I had lymphocytic colitis following a colonoscopy and given an antibiotic and told to take pepto. My doctor never has had any advice for the LC but over the years my symptoms have gotten so much worse that I am at a loss about what to do. My doctor referred me to a digestive/liver doctor for my latest colonoscopy, who again confirmed the lymphocytic colitis dx, but only prescribed apreso (?) and told me to come back in 4 mos. the prescription costs $467.00 out of pocket and after only consulting with the Dr for a total of 3 minutes which just questioned my health history while he walked me to appointment window and ordered celiac testing - which I have had 3 times in last few years and always negative, I feel like I am alone and need to take matters into my own hands. I have never been educated about diet and its affects but I plan on trying the elimination diet after reading about it. I am so glad there is a community online that I can chat with because to be honest, I don't have the resources in southeastern KY for doctors and medical specialists!

Hi Ebeth,
Welcome to the forum. If you are motivated (and it sounds as though you are) you can get control of this disease without using any drugs.
Many of us are here for the same reason — our GI doc doesn't know enough about the disease to be able to treat it effectively.
Again, welcome aboard, and please free to ask anything. Good luck with your recovery. I hope that the diet works well for you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Please read the stage 1 eating plan in the guidelines to recovery section....
foods should only be reintroduced when there has been long enough period of minimal symptoms
for some this might be 2 months - for others it may be 3 months. no black and white set timing

Thank you so much for the information about the elimination diet. I need to be very serious about this and this was so helpful. I was with MC diagnosed in 2006. I have been on many medications with nothing working. I realize I should have been more diligent in sticking with the elimination diet. I adhere to the dairy, casein free diet but I now know that it is not enough. The info regarding Vit D was interesting, too. I just took a Breath Hydrogen Study and it was positive. I was just diagnosed with IBD and SIBO and am on Cipro. Thanks for much for this wonderful group. Deb
