Monique, welcome!
We have all been where you are, and, most of us (Polly included) are not totally back to where we were in spite of diet. However, most of us are significantly better than we were at the time of diagnosis.
So read widely on this forum, and when you don't understand ask questions. You will always be helped and encouraged!

This is an important lesson to learn, I believe, that doctors don't always have the answer and sometimes their advice not only isn't helpful but can be positively harmful. In the case of MC this seems to be the case. The advice that come from this forum regarding food and medicine is the best advice out there. I certainly am glad that I found this site. We are trained to think that when we are sick we should go to a doctor to get a diagnosis and then following the diagnosis they will institute a treatment that is appropriate. This is not always true and there is no sense listening to a doctor when that doctor does not know best. Dietary change is the backbone of the treatment advice you will find here but not at most if any doctor's office.Lesley wrote:That's what happened to me. I no longer listen the crap my doctors try to feed me - crap in, crap out if you will excuse the put. I take ALL my information from the people on this site, and they have never let me down!

Thanks Lesley.
Glad I am not the only one having issues with GI doctors. I am on my 5th (and he doesn't know much either!) within a year and half...
The first one was sweet but with an incomprehensible Korean accent. I didn't understand a word.
The second was very young and arrogant. Hubris was his middle name.
The third misdiagnosed a serious bacterial infection that nearly killed me, sent me to the hospital and triggered colitis
The fourth one said EAT EVERYTHING!
Number 5 is the current one. Saw him twice. Will let you know when he is booted too :-) Well, he at least told me to try the elimination diet (he knew about that one! Bravo!)
I think I'll keep to the "docs" on this board.

I'm on my 3rd GI, and haven't looked for # 4 because it would be same s**t different day.
Trying to get an answer from them is adding stress for no reason. All they want to do is ADD drugs, when I am trying to throw out as many as I can.
The only reason I went back to the GI was to nag him to do an endoscopy to see if I had Barrett's esophagus.
I email my PCP for tests when I need them, or think too much time has gone by, and go from there.

Marie /healthy desire...
Polly's original post is a few years old.
After this celebration, Polly did have a major flare, and has some histamine/mast cell irritation
MC remission can be a delicate fragile type state.
