By the way, Wayne, I heard the other day a financial advisor say that corn futures might actually hold some promise for investors.

Biggest hurdle here is that gasoline is so cheap compared to other fuels.

As usual, that financial advisor is too late. Corn futures responded to that possibility a couple of months ago.

Gasoline is too cheap? The last time I checked, ethanol was selling for around $1.85 in Austin, and gas and diesel was crowding $3.

The problem is, most of us don't have access to alternative fuel choices. It's not very practical to drive 100 miles or more, just to fill up. That kinda defeats the purpose.

Thank you for the information, Wayne.

I´ve heard a lot about this movie. Furthermore, what a reaction on the forum!
I am looking forward to watching it in Spain on November the 10th.

I watched the trailer and it seems highly interesting.

Sally,

Thank you so much for your very kind comments. And I am honored and humbled that you have saved the debate for the future! I'm sure Wayne feels the same way.

Luce,

Thoughtful post. I always enjoy your observations and comments. You're absolutely correct, of course - it is difficult to find an exact money trail to an individual. Some of these skeptics serve as members of institutes (like the Marshall or the Cato Institute) that are heavily funded by EXXON Mobil. I'll send you much more on this by email if you are interested. If you want a specific example: In Ross Gelbspan's book, "Boiling Point", it states that Lindzen received up to $2500 per day to consult with coal and oil interests in the 1990s, a fact that Lindzen himself does not dispute.

And I totally agree with you about the onesidedness of the Lindzen letter in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Of course it was in the "opinion" section and not presented as fact. However, you are absolutely correct about the quality of the indepth articles in the WSJ. I have read some in that paper on the impact of global warming that I think are superb.

Wayne,

Of course I believe that the absence of a paycheck affects the way one thinks. And so does Al Gore! LOL! In the movie he uses this quote from Upton Sinclair: "Its difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

My excellent, dear, and most worthy "opponent": It is obvious to me that we could debate each other on this topic 'til the cows come home. It has been intellectually challenging to say the least, and I think it is time to call it a "draw". If for no other reason than the fact that I have a lot of work from the past week to catch up on! LOL! Debating does take up time, doesn't it?

I'll leave this thread with the following thought:

We can thank our lucky stars that Wayne and I see eye-to-eye on the topic of MC!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly,

I've been thinking the same things, and my work is wondering why I'm running behind, also. LOL. Obviously, I've thoroughly enjoyed this special exchange immensely, and I've learned a lot about the "global warming" issue.

And yes, my dear friend, I suppose it is indeed lucky that we agree on the topic of MC, otherwise we never would get anything done, would we. LOL.

Love,
Wayne
