Good Grief!!!

Post by starfire »

Well, I won't be leaving for GA/FL tomorrow after all. I took a spill this AM and busted my lip area on the right side. I have 13 stitches between the outside and inside of my lip. Right side of face quite swollen and my upper teeth in that area are so sore I can't even put my teeth together without pain. Have antibiotics and pain pills which take the edge off but it still hurts.

Putting off the trip until sometime Monday and going straight to Fl. No side trips. Going to scare enough people wiith my face without going out of my way to do it. HaHa.

They did a cat scan to make sure I didn't fracture any bones and nothing showed up but I'm hoping I didn't crack any tooth roots or anything. Supposed to have the stitches out next thursday. Hope I can get an apt with my doc then.

Take care everyone..............

So sorry to read about your spill, Shirley. That is a bummer. Hope your teeth are okay. Are you putting cold on your face? That would help with the pain and swelling.

You can't drive straight through to Florida in one day, can you? Seems like it would be too far.

Ouch, Shirley! It sounds like you took a nasty fall. 13 stitches on your lip is a lot of stitches. I don't think I'd be in any hurry to travel. I hope you heal quickly.

Aw Shiley,

I'm so sorry that happened. That's going to make life pretty tough for a while. Couldn't you spare a couple more days before setting out on such a long trip? That's really going to be tender for a few days, at least, and you'll almost surely have some trouble sleeping, for a few days. Tomorrow, you may discover some other aches and pains, too. I hope not, but I would be surprised if you didn't.

Please don't push yourself too hard. Florida will be there when you feel like traveling.

Love,
Tex

Thank you all for the sympathy and good wishes.

Yep, I did use ice, starting immediately. Went to the ER with my ice.

I did have a restless night and between the pain med and the antibiotic I was up eating dry crackers to help with the nausea. Didn't bring my phenergan with me. HaHa

The throbbing pain is gone this AM but still mighty sore and, of course, hard to eat and drink but I'll manage. Still can't put my teeth together without pain though. Maybe I'll lose a couple of pounds. HaHa

No I'm not going to drive straight through to Florida. Actually, I plan to stop twice for the night on the way down. Never done that before but I figured it would make it easier on Mom.

The reason I want to leave sometime Monday is because between myself and Mom we have a considerable string of appointments starting on Thursday. If it weren't for that, I'd stay here until the stitches were out.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
