Post by tex »

Hi All,

Maybe it starts here, for some of us. Were you a colicky baby?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex,

Just read this post. My sister and I had colic. I was diagnosed w/ CC three years ago. My sister's biopsies are pending. All four of my children had colic even though I breastfed them for a few to several months. Since I was diagnosed, two of my three adult daughters have noticed intermittant D and are trying to go GF. As a mother, I know colic is very painful. Fortunately, I had a compassionate pediatrician who prescribed an antisposmotic/pain solution which really helped soothe them. It was thought that their intestines were immature (leaky gut?) and they were absorbing irritants. That they suffered even though I was breastfeeding was probably due to gluten and other molecules I secreted into the milk. My mother had chronic D the last 15 years of her life. Never received a diagnosis as she died in 1985, only a few years after MC was first reported in the literature. Maybe we need a new poll re colic? Thanks to you and your assistants for all your hard work maintaining this site. It is a wealth of information for all. Shekoe

Hi Shekoe,

Thanks for sharing your insight into your own experiences. That makes a lot of sense. I can remember my mother mentioning that I had colic, and she also had GI issues later in life, but nothing was ever diagnosed in her case, of course.

By golly, now that you suggest it, I believe I will start a poll about this. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for the kind words.
