I am fairly new to this board and my country ip is showing Canada's Flag but I live in the US. Does anyone know how I change this?
I can't seem to find where to change it in my profile.
Thanks

Hi Annie,
I'm not sure if this will change the country IP flag...that may come from the IP address of your computer. Check your zip code, too. Tex would know the answer for sure.
You can try and click on the Profile link located beneath the scrolling heading above (right under the "Search" link), your profile page will appear. Scroll down and change the county flag to the United States. Then click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Hi Annie,
I think Gloria is right. The IP flag seems to pick up the where you are posting from. When I travel, say from Hong Kong to UK, I notice that the IP flag changes automatically. Sometimes it just shows a blue flag with no address and I suppose that is when the system can't work out where you are.
All best, Ant

Gloria and Ant are right on target, of course. Any member can freely select their "Country of choice" flag, in their profile, but the "Country IP" flag is automatically determined by the system, based on extensive tabulations of allowable IP addresses that can be used in various parts of the world, by internet service providers, when their servers assign an IP address to a user's computer terminal, (when the user logs on to their system). And, as Ant mentioned, if the system isn't able to make a positive identification of the posting IP address, then it posts a generic, (blue), flag.
I've noticed that this isn't the only example of a U. S. member to show a Canadian IP flag. In some cases, this may mean that the service provider might be headquartered in Canada, for example, even though they sell service in other countries, and their server may be incorrectly assigning the user IP address.
Computers aren't perfect, of course, but the system works pretty good. If someone tells us that she or he is at home, hard at work, and we happen to spot a flag under their avatar from some South Pacific island - welllllllllll, that might look a little suspicious.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
