GF raspberry suggestions?

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Well, we've got a big old raspberry patch and I just went out and picked a cup. Erin, Geoff and I picked a pint the other night, but we gave that to his parents. I think these we'll mix with some blueberries I bought and just eat them for desert tomorrow, but there are more out there. But I was getting tired of the mosquitos and the weeds (possibly neddles) that I pulled out and made my hand sting.

Katy

PS: Anyone up on the care of raspberries? THese need an obvious weeding, but I've heard things about cutting old vines out, but don't know if there is a gold standard.

Hi Katy,

To help your rasberyy patch, cut back all of the old dead canes at the base and when the rest of the canes are done giving fruit, just cut the others back to about 4'. Will give you a much better yield next year.

Try simmering up a few and take a glutano pie crust mix, fix it up and put the berries on it and Instant Fruit Tart. Sounds good to me.
