Medicine thats OK for a cold?
I'm coming down with a cold (mostly sinus-related) and I know we have to be careful with what types of meds we take, is there anything I can take for this cold? I feel terrible. I take tylenol for the headache but that only does so much.
Sorry to hear about the cold. Most OTC cold remedies should be OK, as long as they do not contain any NSAIDs. I'm not aware of any restrictions, otherwise. If the sinuses are involved, those colds can really be persistent.
Massive doses of vitamin D3 can actually stop a flu virus, (roughly 1,000 IU per pound of body weight, per day, for 3 days), but I don't know if that would work on a cold. If you want to try to improve your resistance in the future - if you will take enough vitamin D3 on a daily basis, (usually around 4,000 to 6,000 IU per day), you should eventually be able to get your blood level of 25(OH)D up into the upper half of the "recommended" range, so that colds should be prevented, in the future, with any luck at all.
Maybe someone else will have some better suggestions.
Good luck,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
