Bad News For High Fructose Corn Syrup

Post by tex »

Hi All,

According to studies done at Duke University Medical Center, significant consumption of High Fructose Corn Syrup, (HFCS), can cause the same type of liver fibrosis as excessive intake of alcohol. That is definitely not good news for the corn processing industry.

What I'm wondering, is why it took researchers over 30 years to get around to discovering this, (and where has the FDA been, all this time). In the meantime, over 30% of the population now has irreversible liver damage, due to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, (though surely there are other causes, besides HFCS). :sigh:

Good Grief!! I wonder why we have all these "agencies". They don't seem to do a lot of good.

Shirley,

Apparently, their main function, (outside of supporting the pharmaceutical industry), is to provide jobs for otherwise unemployable people.
