Hello, Gabes and Ant and all!
Sorry I have not been around lately. Seems like this time of year is always the busiest. Here is what I've been up to:
I do volunteer work as a board member of my local nature center. My biggest task every year is to chair the Scholarship Committee, and most of the work comes in April and May. We offer scholarships to high school seniors who are planning careers in environmental areas. This involves reading/ranking all of the applications and deciding which ones are most deserving and should be interviewed. I then must try to find time slots for interviews by coordinating the schedules of my committee members as well as the students (the most difficult undertaking!). After interviews we must select winners, and then I have to send out letters to all who applied, write a press release, etc.
It's a huge job but one I wouldn't miss.........because it is so reassuring to see these exceptional young people and learn of their commitment to the environment. It appears that the best and brightest students are now entering this field. Hurray!!!
My dental saga continues.............I did have the implant surgery a few weeks ago but developed an infection in the site. My fault, of course. The dentist wanted me to take cleocin, which I refused. I had talked him into letting me taking 2 loading doses of Cipro, the antibiotic I do best on. He now has me on 5 days of levaquin, which seems to be working nicely. I was happy he chose levaquin. Altho I've never taken it before, it is in the same family of drugs as Cipro - it's just a "newer" version of Cipro. The gut has been fine, luckily......in fact, better than ever, just like it always has been with Cipro. So at least I now know I have another antibiotic that my gut tolerates well.
My knee is MUCH better. I have been working with a great trainer at the health club I joined, and she has done wonders for my knee.
Enough about me. Hope all are well.........I should be able to get on here more in a few weeks. For now, I'm gonna go browse and catch up on the news!
Thanks for thinking of me...........
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Hi Polly,
I'm glad to see that you've just been extra busy. I was afraid that something bad had happened, and I was afraid to ask - (didn't want to be nosy).
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

soo pleased that although you are busy there are lots of good things, bright students for the enviroment stuff, antiobiotics that dont cause havic for your gut, and the knee is on the mend.

dude - i am sorry that life is still crappy and there have been no steps forward, and that these doctors have let you down....
most importantly, YOU are not insignificant, the system and their lack of care in supporting pateints conditions like this are the hopeless insignificant ones! (olivia is having similar issues)
keep with it, dont let this demon beat you, find a doctor who will support you. yes i agree easier said than done, but i assure you that it will be worth the effort. Dont stop dreaming and wanting improvement, i just dont think waiting for a miracle is the answer.
