New Research Shows Dairy Fat To Be Good For Heart Health

Post by tex »

Hi All,

According to this study, dairy fat is good for the heart. It lowers blood pressure, and, (get this), it lowers total cholesterol, while raising the level of good cholesterol, (HDL cholesterol). Yep, that's what it says. And while some or all of those claims may well be true, it's difficult to put a lot of faith in them, because unfortunately, the study was funded in part by the National Dairy Council/Dairy Management Inc., a trade group for the US dairy industry. And, the primary researcher, Dr. Warensjo, has been a paid speaker for the Swedish Dairy Association, and the International Dairy Federation.

We're seeing this more and more. Medical research reports are slowly, but surely, morphing into the medical equivalent of infomercials. :sigh:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex,

I totally agree with you about studies morphing into infomercials. It is rare anymore that we really get independent studies without an interested party/parties involved.

Won't put much faith in this one at all.
