wow - an admission....

As physicians we are trained to shut off inflammation with aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication such as Advil or Motrin, steroids and increasingly more powerful immune suppressing medication with serious side effects. But we are not trained to find and treat the underlying causes of inflammation in chronic disease. Hidden allergens, infections, environmental toxins, an inflammatory diet, and stress are the real causes of these inflammatory conditions.

not sure how creditible this media is or this MD, it is a great article about treating the cause, using diets, and nutrients etc

Gabes,

Dr. Hyman is considered to be one of the "good doctors", as far as gluten-sensitivity is concerned. He belongs to a list of doctors considered to be at the cutting edge of thinking, regarding gluten-sensitivity. Here's a list that includes most of them:

This article by him was published back in January of this year:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-h ... 79089.html

Note this quote from that article:
In light of the new research on the dangers of gluten sensitivity without full blown celiac disease, I consider any elevation of antibodies significant and worthy of a trial of gluten elimination. Many doctors consider elevated anti-gliadin antibodies in the absence of a positive intestinal biopsy showing damage to be "false positives." That means the test looks positive but really isn't significant.

We can no longer say that. Positive is positive and, as with all illness, there is a continuum of disease, from mild gluten sensitivity to full-blown celiac disease. If your antibodies are elevated, you should go off gluten and test to see if it is leading to your health problems.
The red emphasis is mine, of course. Note that he is referring to blood test results, with those comments.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

That's a great article. Its one of the first that I have read that states that the real problem are the irritants to the body that are causing the problem. Certainly in my case and it seems like most here that the diet has the largest influence on CC.
