Well along with my bald eagles and other cool birds I now have Flickers hanging around. One flew down to the lawn less than 2 feet away from me and gave me a wonderful look at it's beautiful markings!

Morning Peg,
Aren't the flickers just lovely and the really do have the prettiest necklaces of any bird. They will stick to one spot in the lawn or garden for a long time trying to get each and every ant.
Heard a Barred Owl this a.m. around 4:30 coming from across the road. Lovely sound.

Hey Mags,
Yes, the markings are incredible. I wish I could have found a better picture that showed the chest - the one marking is almost like a large smile.
I love owls, too. I lived on a farm when I was much younger and my brother and I used to go out to the large barn and fing the packets that the owls left behind after they had eaten mice - they were fascinating to take apart. I remember my brother and I trying to put together a skeleton like it was a dinosaur or something.
Bobbie - I can't take credit for the pictures...only for finding them on the web.
Had a hummingbird come by and take nectar from one of my hanging baskets - KEWL!
Hope you'all have a great day.
Love,

Love,
So is THAT was that bird is!?!?! I have seen a flicker a few times at my bird feeders, and I grab my binoculars and my bird book and start trying to identify him, but wasn't sure. I had it narrowed down to being a flicker or one other, but now I see from that pic that it's definitely a Flicker!
Hurray - I can circle another picture in my book as to having been spotted!
